Taylor Swift skipped the 2026 American Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday, despite leading all nominees — but did she still take home any trophies?

Taylor Swift skipped the 2026 American Music Awards, led the night in nominations anyway, and still walked away with zero trophies. Not the outcome anyone expected, but here we are.

Quick recap: when and where

The AMAs went down Monday, May 25, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Swift, the night’s nominations leader, did not attend.

What Swift was up for

  • Artist of the Year
  • Best Female Pop Artist
  • Album of the Year for "The Life of a Showgirl"
  • Best Pop Album for "The Life of a Showgirl"
  • Song of the Year for "The Fate of Ophelia"
  • Best Music Video for "The Fate of Ophelia"
  • Best Pop Song for "The Fate of Ophelia"
  • Song of the Summer for "Elizabeth Taylor"

The album behind the nominations

"The Life of a Showgirl" is Swift’s 12th studio album, released in October 2025, and it doubles as a window into her relationship with fiancé Travis Kelce. The two started dating in summer 2023 after he hit her Eras Tour, and they got engaged in August 2025.

"This album probably also feels very happy and confident and free because that’s the way that I get to feel every single day of my life because of my fiancé, who is here tonight. So, thanks for the vibes."

Did she win?

No. Despite eight nominations, Swift was shut out entirely on the night.

Was she there?

Also no. She skipped the show.

What she was doing instead (well, days earlier)

A few days before the AMAs, Swift and Kelce showed up courtside for Game 3 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals — Cleveland Cavaliers vs. New York Knicks — at Rocket Arena in Ohio. The two were openly affectionate. The Knicks went on to win the series and punch their ticket to the NBA Finals.

The bigger picture

Even with the 2026 shutout, Swift’s AMAs legacy is already massive: back in 2022, she became the most-awarded artist in the show’s history with a record 40 wins.
