Bruce Campbell got real about the cancer rabbit hole—and his own condition—in a recent interview.
In a candid new interview, Bruce Campbell said he’s living with a doctor-advised, five-year outlook and is trying to protect his headspace by not drowning in online chatter about his diagnosis. Speaking on The Adam Carolla Show, the actor described how he’s staying focused without getting lost in message boards and support groups.
“In my world, I’m in a five-year prognosis.”
“You can go down a massive rabbit hole. The cancer rabbit hole is enormous. You can go into focus groups of 10,000 guys who have the exact thing you have. I won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.”
Campbell first told fans about his cancer in March, posting on X that his condition is “treatable” but “not curable,” and that he’d briefly step back from work to prioritize treatment. Support poured in at the time — including messages from fellow entertainers like Kid Cudi — as he promised to stay strong through the process.
Back at work
The actor has since resumed a measured work schedule and is now out promoting Ernie & Emma, a project he wrote, directed and stars in. The comedy follows a man determined to spread his late wife’s ashes, and Campbell has been spacing out appearances as he balances promo with treatment.
As for the franchise that made him a cult icon, Campbell hasn’t played Ash Williams since 2018, but he’s still in the mix behind the scenes. He remains an executive producer on upcoming Evil Dead installments.
