Who does McGee marry on NCIS? The proposal came in the NCIS elevator, and Jimmy Palmer officiated the wedding

Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) marries Delilah Fielding (Margo Harshman), the Department of Defense intelligence analyst he starts dating in season 11. The proposal lands in season 14, episode 4, "Love Boat" (October 11, 2016); the wedding follows in season 14, episode 23, "Something Blue" (May 9, 2017) — improvised, at home, with the morgue's Jimmy Palmer presiding.

Who Delilah is

Delilah debuts in the season 11 premiere, "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" (2013), as a DoD analyst specializing in cyber security and counterterrorism. Later that season, in "Kill Chain," she's gravely injured in terrorist Benham Parsa's attack on a Washington gala; the spinal damage leaves her using a wheelchair permanently. The show kept her career moving anyway — including a posting in Dubai — and kept the relationship long-distance-tested rather than ending it, which by network procedural standards counts as radical patience.

The elevator proposal

McGee being McGee, the original proposal plan was engineered: a specific date, a specific spot, and sunlight hitting at a specific angle — an alignment that wasn't due for another six months. The case of the week changed his mind. While Gibbs, Quinn, and Palmer investigate a woman's murder aboard a Navy ship during a tiger cruise, the victim's grieving boyfriend tells McGee he regrets waiting to propose. McGee retrieves the ring from its hiding place in Bishop's desk and heads for the elevator — where the doors open on Delilah herself. He pulls the emergency brake, drops to one knee under the fluorescent lighting, and asks. She says yes. The famous orange NCIS elevator has hosted interrogations, firings, and at least one bombing; this remains its only engagement.

"Something Blue" stacks the events: mid-wedding-planning, Delilah and McGee learn she's pregnant — and Abby, told in confidence, leaks it to the entire team within the episode. Instead of the big ceremony on the app's checklist, the couple marries on the spot in their apartment (Tony DiNozzo's old apartment, which McGee took over in season 14). The role assignments are the episode's actual gift:

• Officiant — Jimmy Palmer, who got ordained online that same morning specifically to do it.
• Best man — Abby Sciuto, in a tuxedo and fascinator. Pauley Perrette teased it herself on Twitter that night: "Abby's in a Tux and Fascinator on #NCIS tonight. There's a reason :)"
• "Man of honor" — Gibbs, standing in for Delilah's out-of-town sister.
• Giving the bride away — Ducky.

McGee wears his late father's admiral stars. And before the ceremony, Gibbs hands him the watch Gibbs' own father gave him on his wedding day, newly engraved:

"Breathe, Tim."

What came after

The twins reveal arrives in "Voices," and Delilah gives birth in the season 15 Thanksgiving episode "Ready or Not" (2017) — a boy and a girl, named John, after McGee's father, and Morgan, after a hospital security guard killed during the episode's case. The marriage has stayed intact ever since, which on this show is a genuine statistical anomaly. The most recent complication is a late-series curveball: in the episode "In Too Deep," McGee learns he has an 18-year-old son, Mateo Garcia, he never knew existed — predating Delilah, and presumably the subject of one very long off-screen conversation.
