These 5 Actors Are Most Likely to Return for NCIS' Tony & Ziva Spinoff
After disappointing cancellations, CBS must appease its fans.
Summary
- A new NCIS spinoff is in development that will continue the story of Tony and Ziva.
- The cast is still unknown except for Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo.
- Nevertheless, we should expect a number of high-octane cameos.
CBS has managed to both disappoint its longtime fans by canceling NCIS: Hawai'i on an unbearable cliffhanger and make them happy — there are two new series coming up, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Tony & Ziva. But today we're going to talk specifically about the latter, dedicated to arguably one of the most passionate couples on television in the '00s and '10s, played by the incomparable Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo.
For years, we've been eagerly waiting for their bickering to finally turn romantic, and when it did, the shippers were giddy with excitement. All in all, CBS knows how to capitalize on feelings of nostalgia, and with that in mind, it's almost safe to say that some of the original NCIS cast members will be making appearances in the new show.
So let's speculate on which NCIS stars are most likely to return in NCIS: Tony And Ziva.
What Is Known about the Show So Far?
As a reminder, the two began to grow closer in Season 10, but the very next season, Ziva left NCIS. Two seasons later, we learned that she was allegedly killed by former CIA agent Trent Kort (David Dayan Fisher), and Tony found out that they had a daughter, Tali, whom he took under his wing after the presumed death of his beloved.
But the writers couldn't just kill off such a beloved character, so in Season 16 it was revealed that Ziva had faked her death to go into hiding, and in Season 17 she was reunited with Tony in Paris.
Of course, no show is complete without conflict, so the power couple will be pursued by a mysterious enemy, and Tony and Ziva will not only have to figure out who it is, but also relearn how to trust each other.
These NCIS Stars May Return in the Spinoff
According to TV Line, we should expect a lot of new characters as Tony and Ziva will be working with a British bodyguard, a Russian hacker and a French Interpol liaison. But even though the action will be set in Europe, we should probably expect to see some of the old cast from the flagship series as well!
5. Leroy Jethro Gibbs
Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, has suffered enough and deserves his peaceful retirement in Alaska. However, it's unlikely that Gibbs has lost touch with his former subordinates — it's quite possible that Gibbs could at least have a phone call with Tony and Ziva!
4. Leon Vance
Played by Rocky Carroll, Leon Vance, the longest-serving director of NCIS, has already appeared in other spin-offs, NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans, and so we await his cameo in NCIS: Tony and Ziva.
3. Jimmy Palmer
Dr. Palmer (Brian Dietzen) is undoubtedly one of the most popular characters on NCIS, and since he continues to be an active figure in the main series, it is likely that he will be seen in the spin-off as well.
2. Orli Elbaz
Ziva may have returned to Paris, but her Mossad-connected past still haunts her. So it would be odd not to see Orli Elbaz (Marina Sirtis), the current director of Mossad.
1. Timothy McGee
For many fans, it already seems like a certainty that we can expect a long-awaited reunion with Special Agent McGee, played by Sean Murray, an NCIS veteran who has been with the original series since its inception. In fact, Weatherly and de Pablo spoke with Murray a month ago on the Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch podcast — the joy and ease with which the actors interacted after not seeing each other for 10 years gives us a pretty good indication of a possible guest appearance or two.
