Kanye West’s family, explained: does he have any siblings?
Inside Kanye West’s family: from the parents who shaped his rise to the children in his spotlight—and the real story on his siblings.
Ye has spent the last two decades turning his life into appointment viewing. Music, fashion, relationships, the occasional headline that sets the internet on fire — it is all out there. But one basic question still trips people up: does he even have siblings? Short answer: not in the way most fans expect. Here is the quick, no-drama tour of Ye's immediate family, the relatives you have heard about (and probably miscategorized), and the kids who are already mini celebrities in their own right.
Does Ye have siblings?
Ye — born Kanye West, now legally just Ye — is the only child of Ray West and Donda C. West. That part is straightforward.
Through his father, though, there are two additional branches on the tree: Aliya Jones and Hal Carmichael. Over the years, coverage has labeled them as step-siblings. One wrinkle: Aliya has been identified as Ray West's daughter with his second wife, which would technically make her a half-sister. The public labeling has been inconsistent, and Ye himself almost never clarifies it. What is clear: he does not seem especially close with either of them.
He is, however, on good terms with his stepmother, Cheryl, who was at his 2014 wedding to Kim Kardashian.
What his siblings have said publicly
Aliya and Hal have popped up in interviews a few times — the kind of family commentary that makes headlines precisely because Ye keeps this lane pretty private.
'If you are Kanye West and you have got women throwing themselves at you everywhere you go, there is going to be temptations to stray.'
That was Aliya Jones talking to Heat magazine in 2015, adding that she would not be shocked if Ye cheated on Kardashian. For context: Ye and Kim married in 2014, and she filed for divorce in 2021 after nearly seven years.
'Ye is tired, he is hurt, he feels betrayed and he is probably feeling depressed. It is like, who can he trust? You cannot trust anyone, even the people you have been paying to protect you.'
That is from a 2016 interview Hal Carmichael did with The Sun, where he also said Ye was worried about his safety and his family's — despite the fact that Hal and Ye had not seen each other since 2014. Make of that what you will.
Ye's kids with Kim Kardashian
Whatever else is going on, Ye is a dad first and foremost. He and Kim share four children:
- North West — born June 15, 2013
- Saint West — born December 5, 2015
- Chicago West — born January 15, 2018
- Psalm West — born May 9, 2019 (via surrogate)
North is already a fixture on social media and shows up at events with Kim; the kids are regulars on their mom's feeds in general. In December 2025, Ye and Kim were spotted spending Christmas together with their four, and by all accounts they have stayed focused on co-parenting even though the marriage is over.
So the family snapshot looks like this: an only child of Ray and Donda, two rarely-seen siblings through his father with a bit of fuzzy labeling attached, a cordial relationship with stepmom Cheryl, and four very public kids who are growing up in the spotlight whether they like it or not. For someone who broadcasts a lot, this corner of Ye's life is surprisingly hard to pin down — and that is exactly why it keeps coming up.
