Fallout Season 2 Will Tackle New Vegas’ Many Endings in Surprising Ways
Aaron Moten, who plays Maximus, teases that Fallout season 2 will dive into the varied outcomes of Fallout: New Vegas, exploring how different characters see the aftermath of the game's multiple endings.
Fallout’s second season is gearing up to take fans on a journey to New Vegas, one of the most iconic settings from the beloved game series. The 2010 release Fallout: New Vegas is famous for its branching storylines and several possible conclusions, leaving viewers to wonder which path the show will choose as its official narrative. Aaron Moten, who steps into the role of Maximus, a Brotherhood of Steel knight, recently offered some insight into how the show plans to handle this complex legacy.
Multiple Endings, Multiple Perspectives
In a recent interview, Moten shared,
You know what's really interesting is our storyline, where we are in time is, it's a number of years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas. An interesting conversation Geneva [Robertson-Dworet, showrunner] and I have been having is actually about how history is written in the wasteland by whoever writes it. And different perspectives will have a different perspective on who won and who lost. It's a really beautiful thing.
This approach means the show won’t just pick a single outcome from the game. Instead, it will explore how different groups and individuals remember and interpret the events that shaped New Vegas, reflecting the uncertainty and subjectivity of history in a post-apocalyptic world.
Shifting Alliances and New Twists
Fallout: New Vegas offers four main endings, each determined by which faction the player supports: the New California Republic, Caesar’s Legion, Mr. House, or an independent route. The game’s finale is a massive showdown, and the victor shapes the fate of the Mojave. Moten hinted that the show will let viewers see who believes they came out on top, while other characters challenge those beliefs.
We see it really early on that [Lucy and the Ghoul] find out who believes themselves to be winning, and the Ghoul offering a different perspective, you know.
Fresh Takes on Familiar Factions
While the main factions are central to the game’s story, the show is also set to introduce some changes. A new season 2 poster recently revealed a twist for one of the game’s memorable groups: the Kings, a gang of Elvis impersonators, will be portrayed as Ghouls in the series, even though they were human in the original game. This creative decision hints at more surprises and reinterpretations as the story unfolds.
Fallout season 2 is set to premiere on Prime Video on December 19. As fans wait for the next chapter, there’s plenty of speculation about how the show will weave together the many threads of New Vegas’ legacy and bring its world to life in unexpected ways.
