Dave Franco cracked the perfect retort when Josh Horowitz got called an “idiot” by his wife, and it doubles as a peek at Franco’s own marital humor.
On a new episode of Happy Sad Confused, host Josh Horowitz mentioned that his wife calls him an “idiot” on the regular. Dave Franco didn’t miss a beat. He paused, lifted an eyebrow, and lobbed a deadpan correction that landed like a marital reality check.
“If this is a daily occurrence, you’re doing something wrong.”
Then he twisted the knife with another straight-faced punch line aimed squarely at the host.
“Josh, get a hold of yourself. It ’s your problem. You’re clearly doing some idiotic s*** that you’re getting called out on.”
The timing tracked with Franco’s offscreen life: he and Alison Brie have long leaned into humor as the glue of their relationship, telling stories that swing from sweet to ridiculous without losing the affection underneath.
Pizza, pens, and a balcony “I do”
The couple’s 2017 wedding fit that vibe. They kept the ceremony tiny — just parents and siblings — on their own balcony, then threw a rowdier pizza party for about 60 friends at Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles.
Franco later told Variety that their unofficial party favors had very specific (and delicious) consequences.
“We were handing out weed pens, which just led to everyone bringing home multiple to-go pizzas.”
Brie’s summary of the night was even more to the point.
“That was our parting gift. Personal pizzas.”
Even the proposal came with a gag. Franco popped the question wearing a Zorro mask and a placeholder ring, which made Brie laugh in the moment. The mask now hangs in their kitchen next to a photo from the day they first met.
