Reeling from controversial exits, The Pitt may be headed for more shake-ups, with Noah Wyle telling Variety at PaleyFest that "Emergency rooms have a high revolving door," hinting at fresh faces and in-house promotions ahead.

Welcome to The Pitt: constant heart rates, constant turnover. After a string of exits that already had fans side-eyeing the show, it sounds like even more changes could be coming sooner than anyone hoped.

Wyle says more exits are likely

At PaleyFest on Sunday, April 12, Noah Wyle (54), who plays Dr. Robby, told Variety that the cast carousel might keep spinning as the show heads toward season 3.

'Emergency rooms have a high revolving door. As always, we try to bring in new characters or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the story lines fresh.'

He did not shut down the idea of additional departures before season 3 even starts filming, calling cast turnover an inevitability for this series. His logic: the writers try to keep the timeline realistic without big time jumps, and in a real ER, not everyone sticks around forever. Translation: brace yourself.

Supriya Ganesh is out after season 2 (and fans are not thrilled)

Wyle’s comments landed just after news that Supriya Ganesh (28) will be written out at the end of season 2. That stung, especially for viewers still annoyed that Tracy Ifeachor left after season 1. Wyle shouted out Ganesh’s run, saying Dr. Mohan has been a favorite since the jump and that the cast is going to miss working with her.

Creator R. Scott Gemmill backed up the bigger philosophy behind the churn, noting the show is trying to mirror the medical world: you come in, you learn, you move on. He framed The Pitt as a launchpad for actors, even if it means the cast list changes year to year.

PaleyFest panel shuffle: who was in, who bowed out

  • February: PaleyFest announced a The Pitt panel with showrunner R. Scott Gemmill and cast members Noah Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Isa Briones (27), Shawn Hatosy (50), Sepideh Moafi (40), Taylor Dearden, plus Supriya Ganesh.
  • Later updates: Briones, Hatosy, and Moafi were pulled from the schedule due to new work commitments.
  • April 10: Ganesh posted on Instagram that she would not be at PaleyFest on Sunday: 'Hi everyone — not sure why it’s not removed off the site but I will not be at Paleyfest this Sunday. I know some of you bought tickets to see me and I hope you know this is not a decision I take lightly. Love you all.'
  • April 12: At the event, Wyle spoke about the show’s future, and Gemmill weighed in on the cast turnover approach.

So what happened with Ganesh?

Publicly, not much beyond the panel no-show and the news she’s exiting after season 2. She has not addressed the departure directly. Back in February, she told Us Weekly she was curious where Dr. Mohan might go in season 3 and that it would be up to the writers — which now reads like a gentle heads-up that change was on the table.

Where this leaves season 3

Between Ifeachor leaving after season 1 and Ganesh being written out after season 2, The Pitt is clearly leaning into the realities of a busy ER — constant motion, constant turnover. It makes sense for the premise, even if it is rough on fans who just got attached to certain characters. And based on Wyle’s comments, do not be shocked if there are more goodbyes before cameras roll on season 3.

New episodes of The Pitt air Thursdays on HBO Max.
