Blake Shelton Finally Sees Gwen Stefani’s Sphere Show — And His Quip Steals the Spotlight
Blake Shelton finally watched wife Gwen Stefani storm The Sphere with No Doubt — then hit Instagram to gush over the grind and an all-out, electrifying show.
Blake Shelton finally got to be a fan in the crowd for Gwen Stefani at The Sphere, and yes, he made a whole night of it. About time.
Blake crashes No Doubt's Vegas takeover
On Sunday, May 24, the country singer, 49, posted from The Sphere with a full-throated shoutout to his wife, 56, and her reunited No Doubt crew. He kept it simple and very Blake:
"So proud of my wife @gwenstefani and the @nodoubt guys for working their asses off and putting on this hell of a show. Finally got a night off to see it.. Un-freakin-real."
His Instagram reel shows Gwen calling out to the crowd that he was in the building over Memorial Day weekend, and Blake answered from his seat like the loud, supportive husband he is. He also filmed himself and basically the entire arena belting along to 'Just a Girl,' plus a handful of other moments from the set inside the very extra, very iconic Vegas dome.
Post-show, he headed backstage where Gwen handed him a No Doubt jacket of his own. He put it on immediately, they hugged it out, and the whole thing played like the sweetest rock-star-meets-country-star date night.
About that opening night he missed
If you were wondering why Blake skipped her Sphere debut earlier this month, he did not. He was just booked across town the same night. On May 6, while playing The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, he told the crowd that his wife was launching her month-long Sphere run with bandmates Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, and Adrian Young, and razzed whoever scheduled them on overlapping nights. He joked that he was weirdly glad his audience chose him instead of sprinting over to The Sphere, then riffed on something Gwen had said on her stage about Vegas being the place where you can do whatever the hell you want. He added a mock warning not to tell the authorities. Married life, but make it dueling residencies. Honestly, whoever double-booked them in the same city deserves a stern look.
How we got here
- 2014: They meet on The Voice as coaches.
- 2015: They start dating after Blake's divorce from Miranda Lambert.
- Six years later: They get married and keep right on cheering for each other from opposite sides of the stage.
