After clinching The Voice season 29 crown, Alexia Jayy is eyeing a house — and that $100,000 prize could be the down payment.

Well, The Voice just turned in a legit piece of franchise history, and the new champ already has a very normal, very relatable plan for the prize money.

  • Winner: Alexia Jayy, 31, mom of two, from the Mobile, Alabama area
  • Season: 29, finale aired Tuesday, April 14
  • Milestone: First Black woman to win the NBC singing competition
  • Coach: Adam Levine, who snagged her after all three coaches turned
  • Prize: $100,000, which she says is going toward a house
  • New music: A fresh single called 'Rent Free' is already out
  • What’s next: An empowerment-focused album, more big stages, more work

The historic win

On Tuesday, April 14, Alexia Jayy made Voice history as the first Black woman to win the series. All three chairs spun for her in the Blinds — Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend — but Adam sealed the deal and coached her all the way to the finish line. She grew up in Irvington, a small town outside Mobile, and still calls the Mobile area home.

'Coming from a small town in Irvington and getting to make history for them is amazing. I have been singing since I was 2, and I never thought I would be the one to make history — but I am really glad it is me.'

The money plan: home first, fame second

In an interview on Thursday, April 16, while celebrating the win, Alexia told Us Weekly she has not overcomplicated the $100,000 question. Top of the list: buy a house. She has been grinding since she was a kid, and she wants something special for her family. She is not sprinting to LA or New York either — if she moves at all, she says it will be 'down the road' and still in the South.

Music is already rolling out

She is not waiting around. Alexia dropped a new single called 'Rent Free' right after the finale, and she is aiming to follow it with a full album. The vibe she wants: empowering, uplifting, and (her words) packed with hits. Translation: expect a lot of recording and a lot of stage time, fast.

What it was like with Adam

Plenty of people ask what Adam Levine, 47, is really like behind the scenes, and Alexia’s take lines up with what you might hope. She says they clicked because they are both calm, low-drama types. No micromanaging, no theatrics — just a steady coach-artist pairing that actually let the singing be the point. Judging by the trophy, it worked.

Where The Voice goes from here

Adam is sticking around for season 30, which is expected to premiere this fall in 2026 on NBC. If you want to catch up on earlier seasons or revisit Alexia’s run, episodes are streaming on Peacock.
