The depression of an actor from a once-cult sitcom, and the making of a superhero blockbuster.

Hollywood loves to make projects about Hollywood – about actors, directors, failures, filming pains, and flashes of fame. And viewers never get tired of spying on how the dream factory works.

We have collected five excellent series about the funny, scary, and unbelievably attractive Hollywood.

1. The Offer, 2022

The stories behind the creation of hits often deserve their own discussion. Today, The Godfather is an undisputed masterpiece, but the movie was born in agony. Aspiring producer Albert Ruddy dreams of fame and is eager to break into the big screen.

Mario Puzo's recently published gangster novel The Godfather attracts his attention. Working with Marlon Brando is unbearable, no one knows the young Al Pacino, and the local Mafia boss interferes with the filming.

2. Hollywood, 2020

Ryan Murphy worked not only on American Horror Story, but also on Hollywood. The project presents an alternate reality in which an ambitious aspiring director Raymond, screenwriter Archie and a young actor were lucky enough to meet on the set of the first movie with an African-American lead.

The star of the movie was Camille. Behind Murphy's classic camp and glossy style lies a fairy tale, a world the showrunner would like to see.

3. The Franchise, 2024

The Franchise is about the making of a blockbuster. And it's a real nightmare: German director Eric has only made art-house movies, a stupid comic book movie raises questions among the leading actors, the script is rewritten on the fly, the studio is unhappy.

Assistant director Daniel tries to save the project. The series mocks the monotonous and boringly empty Marvel projects. The Franchise shows the filming, which is doomed to fail from the beginning, but for some reason continues.

4. Entourage, 2004-2011

The show is largely based on the biography of Mark Wahlberg, and each character has a prototype. A young and promising actor from New York, Vincent, moves to Hollywood to become a star.

The talent is helped by his best friend and manager Eric, his brother-artist Johnny, his friend and part-time driver Turtle, and his agent Ari. With each season, Vincent climbs higher and higher.

The writers have created a series that is both upbeat and funny, and the project's signature feature is the impressive number of cameos by stars ranging from Scarlett Johansson to Mike Tyson.

5. Episodes, 2011-2017

British TV shows regularly get American remakes, and Episodes tells just such a story – about the birth of a Hollywood version of a popular show under the strict control of the producers.

Friends star Matt LeBlanc plays both himself and the lead character in the upcoming remake. The writers head to Los Angeles with high hopes, but soon find themselves facing a complete overhaul of their project for the sake of ratings.
