The suit is up for auction
Two decades on, Mike Myers’ screen-worn Cat costume is leaving the studio racks for collectors. Propstore will offer the oversized furry suit, the red-and-white striped hat, the matching bow tie and accessories at its Los Angeles Summer 2026 sale on Aug. 26.
Propstore’s photos are a trip: weathered fur, a fixed facial design and an unmoving expression that feels far eerier than it ever looked under movie lights and in the edit.
Back in 2003, critics panned the film, but it’s since picked up a cult following for its bizarre humor and surreal production design. The live-action chapter also stirred friction with the Seuss estate; Audrey Geisel, Dr. Seuss’ widow, opposed the adaptation, and the estate later ruled out further live-action versions of his books.
