Season 2 now on the table: Harlan Coben open to more Myron Bolitar at Netflix
In his latest Netflix mystery, Harlan Coben may finally bend his famous rule — and give fans something they’ve been denied for years.
On Netflix ’s We’re Back with Brian Williams, Harlan Coben said he’s finally ready to bend his one-and-done rule: Myron Bolitar is being built to keep going if viewers want more. Unlike his past Netflix mysteries that wrapped in a single season, this one is being developed with a longer runway in mind — and with showrunner David E. Kelley steering the series.
“I should never say never, I learned that.”
The pivot has everything to do with the source material. Coben’s Myron Bolitar saga spans 12 novels, giving the TV version far more story than a tight eight-episode box can hold. That’s a notable shift from his previous Netflix hits, which were designed as closed-ended thrillers:
- Fool Me Once
- The Stranger
- Stay Close
Inside the case
Set in the gleaming (and grimy) corners of pro sports, the first season follows Myron as he digs into the murder of a tennis player while also searching for a missing star client. The investigation drags him through corruption, blackmail, and tangled loyalties that turn a sports agent’s job into something a lot darker — and a lot more personal.
- Myron Bolitar — sports agent with a knack for detective work
- Win Lockwood — his ruthless, well-connected confidant
- Esperanza Diaz — sharp-eyed partner who keeps MB Sports grounded
According to the Williams interview, Coben and Kelley are approaching the show with a multi-season game plan, pulling from the broader book universe rather than capping the story after one mystery. If Netflix orders more, there’s plenty of runway to adapt.
There’s no second-season greenlight yet, but season 1 is being developed with the hope of continuing beyond its first run.
