Ruby Rose Speaks Out as Katy Perry Denies Sexual Assault Claims
Ruby Rose, 40, says she’s done commenting on her alleged sexual assault involving Katy Perry after finalizing her reports, announcing the move Tuesday on Threads days after filing a police report.
Ruby Rose says she is done talking publicly about her sexual assault allegations against Katy Perry after filing with police this week. It has been a fast, messy few days online, and now she is closing her end of it while the investigation moves forward.
How we got here
- Sunday, Apr 12, 2026: On Threads, Rose, 40, alleged that years ago at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne, Perry, 41, acted in a sexually inappropriate way toward her. Rose said she initially told a jokey, watered-down version in the past because she did not know how to handle it at the time, but that the encounter was not a funny story. She also said she vomited on Perry afterward. The posts were sparked by seeing a note about Perry watching Justin Bieber’s 2026 Coachella set — yes, the date reads like time travel, but it aligns with this weekend’s calendar.
- Sunday follow-ups: Rose, known for Orange Is the New Black and Pitch Perfect 3, claimed Perry later offered to help with her U.S. visa, which Rose says influenced her decision to keep quiet. She added that if anyone remembers hearing this as a harmless party anecdote years ago, that was her trying to minimize it. She also pushed back on any rumor that it was a consensual kiss, saying it was not that.
- Monday, Apr 13: Perry’s team denied everything, calling the claims categorically false and framing them as dangerous, reckless lies. They also pointed to what they describe as Rose’s history of making serious public accusations that others have repeatedly denied.
- Tuesday, Apr 14: Rose said she finalized her reports with authorities and, per police instruction, will not be commenting further or reposting about any of the people involved. She thanked supporters, said the pause is actually a relief, and that she feels more grounded and ready to start healing.
What Rose says happened
In her Threads posts, Rose claimed she was trying to avoid Perry by resting on a friend’s lap when Perry came over and, as Rose describes it, moved her underwear aside and pressed her genitals on Rose’s face until Rose jolted awake and threw up on her. Rose says she once brushed this off publicly as a goofy drunk moment but now calls that a cover for something she did not know how to process at the time.
Perry’s response
Perry strongly rejects the accusations. Through a representative, she called the story false and dangerous and said Rose has a track record of making public claims that those named have denied. Perry is not commenting beyond that statement right now.
Where it stands
With Rose’s police reports filed, she says she is stepping back from public discussion and moving into the legal side of things. If it looks like she is ignoring messages or other people’s stories, she says that is because police asked her not to engage publicly.
"As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved. It’s a standard request from the police and, honestly, a relief."
