Marty Supreme’s Streaming Home Revealed After A24’s HBO Max Deal
Marty Supreme has outperformed expectations at the box office, and now A24’s renewed partnership with HBO Max is set to bring the hit film to streaming. Find out what this means for fans and when you might be able to watch it at home.
After racing past One Battle After Another in domestic ticket sales, Marty Supreme is quickly becoming one of A24’s most successful releases. Riding high on this momentum, A24 has extended its streaming agreement with HBO Max, a partnership that began in 2023 after the studio’s previous deal with Showtime ended. This move gives HBO Max subscribers access to A24’s acclaimed catalog, which has played a big role in boosting the platform’s audience.
Royce Battleman, executive VP of global content acquisitions at Warner Bros. Discovery, commented on the renewed collaboration:
A24 has been an incredible partner, bringing a slate of talented creative voices and an engaged audience base to the platform. Their bold storytelling perfectly complements the distinct programming offered on HBO Max.
While the film is expected to hit video- on-demand in early February—reports suggest a February 3 release —the official streaming date hasn’t been confirmed yet. The movie ’s strong performance is reflected in its numbers: an 8.2 rating on IMDB, a 93% Tomatometer and 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a box office haul of $79.4 million so far.
Streaming Release Timing Remains Uncertain
With awards season heating up, A24 is unlikely to announce a streaming date soon, especially with all the Oscar buzz surrounding the film and its star, Timothée Chalamet. Fresh off a Golden Globe win for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical, both Chalamet and the film are strong contenders for Academy Award recognition.
Historically, movies with Oscar momentum see a surge in VOD sales, as was the case with last year’s Anora. Marty Supreme is expected to benefit from this trend once it becomes available digitally. Given its impressive box office run, A24 will likely focus on maximizing VOD revenue before setting a streaming date. With the Oscars scheduled for March 15, an April or May streaming debut seems most likely.
Timothée Chalamet’s Star Power Shines
Looking at the film’s box office journey, it’s clear that Marty Supreme has shattered expectations and put to rest any doubts about Timothée Chalamet’s ability to draw crowds. In an era where franchises and intellectual property usually dominate, Chalamet stands out as a rare exception, consistently bringing audiences to theaters whether he’s leading a major epic or a film that relies on his name alone.
Some have argued that the age of the movie star is fading, but Chalamet’s track record—especially with three consecutive holiday box office hits—suggests otherwise. With Dune 3 on the horizon, he’s cemented his place as a major force in Hollywood, drawing comparisons to icons like Tom Cruise for his big-screen appeal.
