Mark Ruffalo has addressed his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, confirming he won’t reprise his role as the Hulk in the highly anticipated Marvel film. Despite this, Ruffalo remains optimistic about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel fans gearing up for the blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday will have to face a major surprise—Mark Ruffalo won’t be suiting up as the Hulk this time around. The film, set to hit theaters in late 2026, is being billed as the most ambitious Marvel project since Avengers: Endgame. With Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Victor von Doom, the stakes are higher than ever. The question on everyone’s mind: Can the likes of the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Thor, Shang-Chi, Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America take down this new threat without the help of the green giant?

Ruffalo Opens Up About His MCU Future

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Ruffalo confirmed he won’t be joining the action in Doomsday. Still, he’s keeping a positive outlook about his ongoing relationship with Marvel.

“As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk. It ’s given me so many gifts. You know, I probably wouldn’t be in Crime 101 if it wasn’t for The Avengers,”

he shared. His comments have sparked speculation about whether the Hulk might appear in this summer’s Spider- Man: Brand New Day, and if the character could be facing real danger.

Why Wasn’t Ruffalo in the Doomsday Cast Reveal?

The actor ’s absence from last year’s viral Doomsday cast announcement video didn’t go unnoticed. When Jimmy Fallon pressed him about it, Ruffalo joked,

“They decided that it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.

The quip is a nod to his reputation for accidentally letting Marvel secrets slip.

Ruffalo’s History of Marvel Spoilers

Ruffalo’s tendency to spill the beans is legendary among Marvel fans. He once let slip the devastating twist of Infinity War—a year before the movie even premiered—when he revealed Thanos would wipe out half the universe. He tried to walk it back, but the damage was done, and his co-star Don Cheadle even refused to do press with him after that.

He also accidentally revealed Steve Rogers’ fate in Endgame, blurting out, “He gets married in this!” But perhaps his most infamous blunder came at the Thor: Ragnarok premiere, when he live-streamed the first 20 minutes of the film by mistake. Ruffalo had been sharing the red carpet excitement on Facebook, but forgot to end the stream before putting his phone in his pocket, letting fans listen in on the movie’s audio until he realized what happened.

Turning Leaks Into Headlines

Reflecting on the Ragnarok incident during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Ruffalo recalled that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige eventually thanked him, saying the leak generated a wave of publicity for the film that no marketing campaign could have matched.
