A viral Johnny Depp moment has been keeping Jensen Ackles up at night lately — and not for the reason you think.

On the closing day of Comic Con Scotland at the Royal Highland Centre near Edinburgh, Jensen Ackles told the crowd he got fixated on a very specific pop-culture relic: Johnny Depp ’s “mega pint” beat from the actor ’s courtroom testimony. Ackles said the viral exchange stuck with him so much it cost him sleep, praising how Depp managed to convey layers of meaning with almost no dialogue.

The “mega pint” moment dates back to 2022, during Depp’s televised defamation trial, when attorney Ben Rottenborn pressed him about pouring a large morning glass of wine. The phrase exploded across the internet, spawning memes and merch; Ackles’ takeaway zeroed in on the performance itself, calling it a masterclass in subtext rather than just a punchline.

Ackles told the Comic Con Scotland crowd the “mega pint” exchange kept him up at night.

Ackles shared the stage with longtime friend and Supernatural co-star Misha Collins, with the banter quickly turning into a mini-reunion. Joining them on the panel:

  • Mark Sheppard
  • Jim Beaver
  • Rob Benedict
  • Ruth Connell
  • Mark Pellegrino
  • DJ Qualls

Clips from the exchange ricocheted across social media as fans joked about Ackles’ late-night brain spiral and cheered the easy rhythm between him and Collins. The moment doubled as a reminder of how tight the Supernatural community remains even after the show ended its 15-season run in 2020.

Off the convention circuit, Ackles is back in the superhero sandbox, filming Vought Rising for Prime Video —a 1950s-set prequel to The Boys that brings him back as Soldier Boy in an earlier era. He also has Rules of Prey lined up at MGM+, a series currently eyed for 2027 .
