Original character with a TV legacy joins Marvel’s VisionQuest; Brian Quinn to play Dale

Midway through VisionQuest Episode 6 — “Deadlock” on Disney+ — Lisa Molinari hits Madripoor with Vision to track down Tommy and run into trouble with Paladin. Along the way, she bumps into an American tourist named Dale who’s just had his wallet lifted after an AI- driven romance scam strands him in the city. The flustered mark is played by Brian Quinn — yes, Q from Impractical Jokers — in a quick but pointed MCU cameo.

It ’s not a random bit of stunt casting. Showrunner Terry Matalas has been sneaking Quinn into his shows for years under the same character name, turning “Dale” into a running cross-series inside joke fans have dubbed the “DaleVerse.” With this Madripoor detour, that gag just jumped franchises — right into Marvel territory.

Quinn’s “Dale” has now wandered through Picard, 12 Monkeys, MacGyver — and Marvel’s VisionQuest.

Where “Dale” has popped up before:

• Star Trek: Picard Season 2 (“Watcher”) — Quinn plays the guy who arrives to take Guinan’s dog, Luna, into his care.
• 12 Monkeys — a Matalas project that also tucked “Dale” into its timeline-twisting world.
• MacGyver (reboot) — another cameo that kept the name — and the joke — alive.
• Impractical Jokers — Quinn’s home show, where the character name has surfaced as part of the ongoing bit.

“Deadlock” itself pushes the larger story forward — Vision and Lisa Molinari head to Madripoor to retrieve Tommy from Paladin — but the Dale encounter is a quick wink from Matalas to viewers who track his work across series. It’s a tiny moment that connects VisionQuest to a long-running, creator-made breadcrumb trail.
