Glam-packed first look drops for ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ prequel, ahead of 2027 release
Sharpen those lockpicks: the Ocean’s Eleven prequel is stitching together a glamorous new caper, a fresh crew, and a rare look back into the Ocean family’s past.
Paris just turned into a ’60s caper. On-set photos shared by Entertainment Tonight show Margot Robbie in Audrey Hepburn–style tailoring and a wide-brimmed hat, while Monica Barbaro works a striking teal pencil-skirt suit. Bradley Cooper was spotted directing between takes — and acting — as production on the untitled Ocean’s prequel gets underway.
This one digs straight into the Ocean family tree: the story is set in 1962 and centers on Danny Ocean’s parents, played by Robbie and Cooper, as they line up a high-end heist timed to the Monaco Grand Prix. The plot moves across Paris, Nice and Monaco, trading Vegas neon for Riviera gloss.
Set in 1962 and staged around the Monaco Grand Prix.
The ensemble around Robbie and Cooper is stacked with international names. So far, the cast includes:
- Monica Barbaro
- Wagner Moura
- Omar Sy
- Josh Gad
- Vicky Krieps
- George MacKay
- Lauren Ridloff
- Jack Holden
ET’s first look pegs the movie as a period heist with couture-level costuming and old-school accessories to match the Riviera setting. It ’s the first time the franchise has stepped back to track how the Ocean legacy started.
Back to the beginning
Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 Ocean’s Eleven updated the Rat Pack classic with George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Andy García, Bernie Mac, Don Cheadle, Elliott Gould, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Carl Reiner and Qin Shaobo pulling a three-casino Vegas job. The remake hauled in about $450.7 million worldwide and spun off Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen and 2018’s Ocean’s 8.
Separate from the prequel, a new sequel with George Clooney has been discussed, with reports suggesting it could reunite him with Pitt, Damon and Roberts. For now, though, the cameras are rolling on the prequel in Paris, with the caper unfolding across Paris, Nice and Monaco.
