Corey Feldman breaks his silence on being left out of the Oscars’ emotional onstage tribute to director Rob Reiner, calling it a family reunion he wasn’t invited to — and leaving it at that.

Corey Feldman finally addressed why he wasn’t onstage during the Oscars tribute to Rob Reiner — and yeah, he noticed. He’s also trying not to make it about him, which, given the week he’s having, is probably the right call.

Feldman on being left out — and what matters now

"Personally, it felt a little bit like a family reunion I wasn’t invited to," Feldman, 54, told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Friday, March 27. "But we’re not going to use this time to get into my feelings about that."

Instead of dwelling on it, Feldman said he’s focused on honoring Reiner with the 40th anniversary theatrical re-release of Stand By Me — the 1986 classic he starred in alongside Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton. He called the loss devastating, and said the best way to say goodbye is to get people back in theaters, talk about the work, and celebrate Reiner on the big screen, where his films belong.

What the Oscars actually did

At the 2026 Oscars, Billy Crystal led a tribute to Reiner, sharing how they first met in 1975 playing best friends on an episode of All in the Family. Crystal joked that it went so well Reiner told him, "It was fun playing your best friend, why don’t we keep it going?" He then ran through the hits — Misery, When Harry Met Sally, Stand By Me — before being joined onstage by a stack of Reiner alums: Meg Ryan, Kathy Bates, Jerry O’Connell, and Wil Wheaton.

Feldman’s take on that moment? He thought O’Connell and Wheaton did what needed to be done, but the segment was so quick he doesn’t feel like he missed much. If anything, he was bugged that no one up there got to speak from the heart — and he would’ve liked to hear from Wil, Jerry, and a few others.

The part no one ever wanted to write

Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, were found dead at their California home in December 2025. He was 78; she was 70. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later ruled their cause of death as multiple sharp force injuries from apparent stab wounds.

Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances in connection with their deaths. He pleaded not guilty in February. If convicted, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. He remains in custody without bail. His next court date is set for April 29.

So where does that leave Stand By Me?

Back on the big screen for its 40th anniversary. Feldman says that’s how he and the rest of the cast plan to honor Reiner now — with the re-release, the tour around it, and all the conversations that come with reminding people why these films meant so much in the first place.
