Carl From Summer House Breaks His Silence on Rumors That Kyle and Amanda's Marriage Wasn't Real
Summer House star Carl Radke weighs in on the fan theories swirling around Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula’s marriage, citing years spent inside their relationship — and noting Kyle recently had to defend it online.
Summer House is messy right now, and Carl Radke is smack in the middle of it — again. He was out in Brooklyn for his Gonna Need Milk x Carl's Not a Mess event, right as part 1 of the season 10 reunion aired on Tuesday, May 26, and he decided to tackle the internet chatter about Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula head-on.
First things first: their marriage was real
Carl, 41 — who actually officiated Kyle and Amanda's wedding — says the conspiracy theories that their 2021 backyard ceremony in Hillsborough, New Jersey, was for show are nonsense.
"I married them, my name's on the certificate, and by the state of New Jersey, it's real."
He even added that Lindsay handled the paperwork and mailed it in. So if you're still arguing in the comments about whether the state recognizes it, take it up with New Jersey.
How we got from vows to a breakup to a new boyfriend
Amanda, 34, and Kyle, 43, tied the knot in her parents' backyard in 2021. Fast-forward: in January, they announced they were splitting after four years of marriage — right before their issues started playing out on season 10. Then, about two months later, Amanda confirmed she was dating West Wilson. Yes, that West Wilson — her then-best friend Ciara Miller's ex. That pairing rattled the Bravoverse for obvious reasons.
Carl's read: uncomfortable, sad, and a friendship realignment
Carl says he was deeply involved in Kyle and Amanda's relationship for years. Watching it unravel has been rough. He was rooting for them, he thought they'd make it, and he admits the fallout cost people friendships. The upside (if you can call it that): some bonds got tighter. The Soft Bar founder says he's gotten especially close with Kyle, plus new cast members KJ Dillard and Mia Calabrese, and he has a ton of love for Ciara Miller.
The West Wilson of it all
What really bothers Carl is how Amanda and West's new relationship reframes past behavior. He says looking back at certain moments now makes him question what else might not have been on the level. And he is very specific about what crossed a line: according to Carl, you don't put your hands on women at their waist or neck, and you definitely don't grab heads and ears — not if you're not dating them. He hugs his friends, sure, but he draws a line at that kind of touching. Watching those scenes back? It pissed him off. Even when people insist they're telling the truth, he finds himself side-eyeing it now.
Accountability, or lack thereof
Only one of the three reunion episodes has aired so far, and Carl is trying to stay optimistic that fans will get some closure by the end. But he's not thrilled with how West has handled things post-reunion. Between certain podcast appearances and being out and about, Carl says the vibe he's getting is basically: you don't give a s***. He isn't asking anyone to disappear, but in his words, the only real apology is changing your behavior.
