Will Arnett Steps In for David Harbour in Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!
Will Arnett takes over for David Harbour in Tony Gilroy’s upcoming film Behemoth!, a cinematic tribute to movie music, with a star-studded cast including Pedro Pascal and Olivia Wilde.
When David Harbour exited Tony Gilroy ’s latest project, Behemoth!, the production didn’t miss a beat. Will Arnett, beloved for his role in Arrested Development, has now joined the cast, stepping into the role Harbour left behind. The film, described as a heartfelt homage to the music that shapes movies and the artists behind it, is shaping up to be a star-studded affair.
Alongside Arnett, the ensemble features Pedro Pascal, known for The Last of Us, Olivia Wilde of Cowboys & Aliens fame, Eva Victor from Billions, Matthew Lillard (Five Nights at Freddy’s), Alexa Swinton (Maestro), Margarite Levieva (Task), and Barry Livingston (The Social Network). Each brings their own unique energy to a project that’s already generating plenty of buzz.
Gilroy’s Vision and Pascal’s Dedication
Tony Gilroy, who earned Oscar nods for his work directing Michael Clayton, is no stranger to assembling talented casts. Recently, he spoke about Pedro Pascal’s commitment to his character, musician Alex Serian, who is a cellist in the film. Pascal has been spotted carrying a cello in public, a move that Gilroy says is all about authenticity.
“He’s a cellist in the film. He’s practicing the cello very diligently and plus, we want him to be able to carry the cello anywhere he can,”
Gilroy explained during an interview. He went on to share a story from his time working on The Devil’s Advocate, recalling how Keanu Reeves had to wear a suit everywhere for months to fully inhabit his character. Gilroy believes that kind of dedication pays off, saying,
“Carrying a cello case will turn you into a cellist if you do it long enough.”
A Love Letter to Movie Music
Behemoth! isn’t just another film about musicians—it’s a celebration of the people who create the soundtracks that define our favorite movies. With Gilroy at the helm and a cast packed with talent, the film promises to explore the passion, discipline, and artistry that go into making movie music unforgettable.
As production moves forward with Arnett now on board, anticipation is building to see how this dynamic cast brings Gilroy’s vision to life. The film’s focus on the unsung heroes of cinema —the composers, musicians, and creators—sets it apart as a unique tribute to an often-overlooked aspect of filmmaking.
