Who is Ramona in Sterling Point? The other name in Gordon's will
A grandfather's estate splits an island in Muskoka three ways, and the third name belongs to a girl neither Jacobson twin has ever met. Here's who Ramona is in Sterling Point and how she ended up in that will.
Annie Jacobson flies to Canada expecting to inherit half an island with her twin brother. The lawyer's paperwork says two-thirds, and the missing third has a name on it.
That name is Ramona, a 16-year-old played by Amélie Hoeferle, and she has been living on Sterling Point the entire time. Gordon, the twins' grandfather, raised her there. Annie has never heard of her.
The connection is through the mother, not the grandfather
Annie and Connor Jacobson (Ella Rubin and Keen Ruffalo) are biological twins who were adopted as small children by Goldie and Steven Jacobson and raised in New York. Ramona is Goldie's biological daughter — born after the twins came into the family, and born at the cost of Goldie's life. Goldie died in childbirth.
That makes Ramona the twins' sister by their adoptive mother and nobody's blood relation to Gordon, who is Annie and Connor's biological grandfather. He raised her anyway, in the cottage on the island, for sixteen years.
Gordon left the twins two-thirds of Sterling Point and Ramona the remaining third. The will is the first time Annie learns she exists.
What the season does with her paternity
Ramona's biological father is the season's running mystery, and the show points hard at the wrong man for most of it. Joe (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the local boat builder and father of Annie's love interest Ellis, had a relationship with Goldie years earlier, which would make Ramona and Ellis half-siblings — and would make Annie's romance with Ellis considerably more complicated.
A DNA test rules Joe out. Ramona's biological father is Steven Jacobson (Jay Duplass), Annie's own adoptive father, who has spent the season quietly sitting on a set of letters Gordon left behind.
Steven hid the letters. Annie's investigation is, in the end, an investigation into the man who raised her.
Where she lands
Ramona spends most of eight episodes as the hostile party to an inheritance dispute and ends them somewhere else entirely. She leaves Muskoka for New York City — Annie's old life — while Annie stays on the island with Ellis. Bo Bragason plays Oona, Ramona's best friend and her one fixed point on the lake.
The series is the creation of Megan Park, released all eight episodes at once on Prime Video on 5 August 2026, and holds 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 76 on Metacritic. Slate's Rebecca Onion called it "deep, funny, and unexpectedly moving" and argued it would outlast Prime's other young-adult romances. Amazon renewed it for a second season on 20 August 2026, fifteen days after it premiered.
