Who does Quinn end up with in Ransom Canyon? Season 2 settles it after a proposal and a letter hidden for decades
Two seasons of near-misses between Quinn O'Grady and Staten Kirkland, a pianist from New York with a ring in his pocket, and one piece of mail that never arrived. The Ransom Canyon season 2 finale picks a side.
Ransom Canyon has spent two seasons keeping Quinn O'Grady and Staten Kirkland in the same small Texas town without letting them stay in the same room. Season 2 finally stops stalling.
All eight episodes dropped on Netflix on July 23, 2026. The season opens six months after season 1: Quinn (Minka Kelly) has been playing with the New York Philharmonic and hasn't spoken to Staten (Josh Duhamel) once in that time, while Staten has been unseated as trustee of the Double K by his father Sam. She comes home. So does someone else.
Oliver, and why he doesn't last
Oliver (Ben Robson) is the pianist Quinn met in New York, and he follows her to Texas with a ring. He proposes publicly in the gazebo — with help from Quinn's mother Claire (Patricia Clarkson), who arranges the surprise. Quinn accepts nothing. By episode 2 she's at a diner with Staten explaining that she didn't plan any of it and isn't wearing the ring because she hasn't decided.
Oliver does everything right. Flown-in charcuterie, foot rubs, an open offer to relocate to Ransom permanently. It fails anyway.
"She found a guy who was really nice to her, but it wasn't enough, because it wasn't Staten," Kelly told Netflix's Tudum in 2026.
He goes back to New York by the midpoint. Staten, meanwhile, crashes Quinn's road trip in episode 6, tampers with her engine at a gas station, and strands them both at a motel hours from home with one bed in the room.
The letter
The finale turns on something buried since high school. Before Quinn left for Juilliard, Staten wrote her a letter. It never reached her, because Claire intercepted it — she thought Ransom Canyon would cage her daughter's career. Decades later, with Quinn apparently finished with Staten for good, Claire hands the letter to him instead, along with the observation that love is a canyon best crossed with the person you love.

Staten sends Quinn a wooden box from the Double K with instructions to meet him at the cabin, the same arrangement he proposed in the letter she never read. She goes.
The scene delivers the answer the show has been withholding since April 2025:
- Staten and Quinn — together, at the hunting lodge, after he tells her fate kept them apart for a reason and she needed New York first.
- The key — he gives her a key to the Double K. "What do you say we start forever right now?"
- The morning after — the season closes on the two of them, with Quinn living at the ranch.
- Elsewhere — Sidney's claim on Yancy is resolved, Sam Kirkland steps aside and backs Staten as head of the Double K after losing his senate race, and Quinn's music festival goes ahead.
Is a wedding coming?
Showrunner April Blair told TVLine after the finale that Netflix hadn't ordered a third season yet, and that a wedding is only "possibly" in the cards — she pointed out that Quinn isn't in her twenties and has never framed marriage and kids as the goal. Which is one way of saying the show has an obvious next move and no obligation to make it.
