When does Lois find out in My Adventures with Superman? Sooner than in Smallville, Lois & Clark or any comic — the writers built the show around it
My Adventures with Superman lets Lois Lane crack the secret identity in its fourth episode, years and sometimes decades ahead of other versions. Here's how she does it, what happens when she tells Clark, and why the writers wanted it out of the way.

My Adventures with Superman premiered on Adult Swim in July 2023, developed by Jake Wyatt, Brendan Clogher and Josie Campbell, with Jack Quaid as Clark, Alice Lee as Lois and Ishmel Sahid as Jimmy. All three are interns at the Daily Planet. Clark has only just started using his powers in public, and Lois has made identifying the flying man her ticket to a real byline.
How she figures it out
Season 1, Episode 4. Lois has been building a "Who is Superman?" board and digging through conspiracy tabloids for anything that predates his Metropolis debut. Early in the episode Clark spots a story about a flying boy in Kansas roughly 15 years earlier, tears it out and stuffs it in his jacket pocket before she can see it.
That night, after a gala at Dr. Ivo's tower, Lois gets cold and Clark gives her the jacket. Back at the Planet, alone with the board, she finds the crumpled page. The timing, the location and the fact that Clark hid it all point the same way, and the episode ends on her saying it out loud.
She gets there through evidence and a careless boyfriend-in-waiting. The glasses play no part, and the show never asks you to believe a reporter this good could miss it.
What happens next
Lois sits on it for exactly one episode. In "You Will Believe a Man Can Lie," she spends the morning trying to prove the hunch before acting on it, then confronts Clark on the Planet's roof. He keeps denying it and reminds her she has spent the week calling Superman a liar and promising to publish all his secrets. So she steps off the roof and makes him catch her. The confession costs them their trust for a while, and the next episode reveals Jimmy, the resident conspiracy theorist, had known all along. By the season finale, a Thanksgiving at the Kent farm where Lois's father turns out to be the season's villain, she and Clark are a couple.

How the other versions compare
- The comics — Lois has shared pages with Superman since Action Comics #1 in 1938. In the main DC continuity she learned the truth in 1991, when Clark told her himself after proposing.
- Lois & Clark — Teri Hatcher's Lois works it out at the start of season three in 1995, after Clark proposes in the season two finale. That's more than 40 episodes in.
- Smallville — Erica Durance's Lois arrives in season four and puts it together at the start of season ten, in 2010.
- My Adventures with Superman — episode four, about two hours of television.
Why the writers wanted it early
The producers have been consistent that the villains are the delivery system and the relationship is the show. In interviews ahead of the premiere they described it as a series about how Lois, Clark and Jimmy feel about each other, with the fights as the backdrop.
"Lois is the Batman in the relationship and in this show!" Wyatt told ComicsBeat in 2023.
Taking the secret off the table in episode four turns the oldest gag in the franchise into a trust problem between two people who like each other, which gives Alice Lee something to play besides suspicion. It also lets Lois be the smartest person in the room from the start, a role the comics took decades to hand her.
Season 3 premiered on Toonami on June 13, 2026. The secret identity hasn't been an obstacle since 2023. The current one, per the season synopsis, is that Clark is ready to settle down and Lois, now the Planet's star reporter, is not.
