Four 90 Day Fiancé couples came apart in the first half of 2026, and the franchise's usual embargo held for exactly three of them. Here's who split, what each side said about why, and how one filing landed in court days before the cameras rolled out.

TLC's entire production model depends on a gap of roughly a year between filming and air date, and on nobody involved saying anything in the meantime. In the first half of 2026 that arrangement broke down once, in a Nevada courthouse.

Three of the four splits stayed inside the format. All three came out of Before the 90 Days season 8, and all three were either confirmed at the Tell All or immediately after it, which is where the franchise prefers its bad news to go. The fourth belonged to a different show entirely, and it arrived through a public court filing.

The three that stayed on schedule

  • Aviva Duhamel and Stig — split before the season 8 Tell All was filmed. Stig ended the relationship by text after Aviva returned to the United States.
  • Laura Nevenner and Birkan — Birkan confirmed the breakup publicly after the Tell All aired, citing his service in the Turkish military.
  • Lisa and Daniel — Lisa called off the engagement, the two briefly reconciled, and the second breakup was revealed at the Tell All.

None of those disrupted anything. Viewers watched the courtship, watched the Tell All, and got the update in the order the network intended.

Patrick Mendes filed on May 22

Patrick Mendes filed for divorce from Thaís Ramone in Clark County, Nevada on Wednesday, 22 May 2026, after four years of marriage. He asked for sole legal and primary physical custody of their three-year-old daughter Aleesi, who had been living with him since 6 May. He requested no child support and no spousal support, stating he earns roughly double Thaís's monthly income. The property he asked for: the couple's truck, a 401k holding about $8,000, and his mattress.

90 Day: The Last Resort season 3 premiered on 1 June 2026 — ten days later.

The couple's representative responded: "Out of respect for everyone involved, we believe it's important not to jump to conclusions or contribute to speculation before all facts are properly clarified."

Why the timing mattered so much

The Last Resort is the franchise's therapy show. Couples check into a Florida resort with counselors and work on a specific stated problem, and the season is built entirely around whether they get anywhere with it. Patrick and Thaís filmed theirs in April 2025. Their stated issues were intimacy, and Thaís's repeated trips to Brazil without him — trips that had become a running point of contention through 90 Day Fiancé season 9 and Happily Ever After? season 8.

So the season premiered with its outcome already docketed. Patrick had posted a Mother 's Day tribute to Thaís twelve days before filing. Thaís had been arrested in May in Nevada on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge and released on a $3,000 bond, with a court date set for July.

Reality Tea noted in 2026 that viewers had hoped the pair could work through it on the show, "which clearly wasn't the case."

What it says about the franchise's grip on its own storylines

TLC has spent fifteen years managing the distance between what a couple did on camera and what they are doing now, and the tools are the Tell All, the reunion, and the Pillow Talk commentary. Those work because the cast signs on to hold the line until the network is ready.

Court filings are public records. They are also searchable, dated, and immune to an NDA about a television broadcast. The Aviva, Laura, and Lisa splits all traveled through channels TLC controls. Patrick's went through a clerk's office.

For the record: Thaís had not been served at the time the filing was reported, which means the first she may have heard of it was through the same coverage as the audience.
