We All Guessed It: Bridgerton Season 4 Lead Is [Spoiler]
Season 3 dropped three clues that led us to a heartwarming conclusion.
Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 has come and gone, wrapping up the love story of Penelope and Colin Bridgerton, who are now happily married and raising their first son. Even though the Season 3 leads got their happily-ever-after, it was a bit sad to say goodbye to the friends-to-lovers tale that's been with us for the past month.
On the bright side, now that the third Bridgerton romance is over, we can move on to the next one. And Season 3 gave us enough clues to guess who exactly will be at the center of the new chapter.
Under Wraps
Officially, the Season 4 lead is being kept a secret. In an interview with Glamour, Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell revealed what we had known all along: the main character of Season 4 is either Benedict, Eloise or Francesca.
But which of these three is closer to seeing their love story unfold on screen? While all three siblings have good reason to meet their love match in the next chapter (some of them already have), there are at least three Season 3 moments that point in one direction: Benedict Bridgerton. Let's recall them together.
1. The Conversation on the Swings
Season 3 made the chat between Eloise and Benedict on the swings a heartwarming tradition. But this time there was more to it than just opening up about what the siblings are going through and feeling right now. Fans couldn't help but notice a line Benedict said about the future.
'It feels right now that the next thing I might learn may change me entirely.'
Sounds like first class foreshadowing, right?
2. Swearing Off Commitment
When Lady Tilley Arnold explains that she will no longer share Benedict with their lover Paul because her feelings for Lord Bridgerton run deeper than she previously thought, Benedict refuses to commit to her, explaining that he is not yet ready to give up his newfound sexual freedom.
Surprisingly, this is exactly what leads us to believe that Benedict will find the love of his life in Season 4. You see, both Anthony and Colin swore off romance before their solo seasons. Anthony said that he would 'remove love from the equation' and Colin famously announced that he 'would never dream of courting Penelope Featherington.' And we all know where that led our Bridgerton boys.
3. The Masquerade Ball
Probably the biggest clue to Season 4's lead is the final talk between Benedict and Eloise. When his sister leaves for Scotland, Benedict insists that she be back for their mother's masquerade ball, adding that he himself will be hiding behind a mask from the bachelorettes and their mothers.
This is a direct reference to Benedict's solo book, An Offer From A Gentleman, which begins with the second Bridgerton meeting a mysterious masked girl at Violet's ball. Add to that the sense of meaninglessness that Benedict has been grappling with for three seasons, and the fact that the Bridgerton creators risk a backlash from the fandom if they put the third novel on hold again, and the doubts about who will lead Season 4 grow thinner and thinner.
