Will Knull become the Avengers' main enemy?

After the credits of the movie Venom: The Last Dance, two bonus scenes were shown. Both hint at the return of the evil Knull and Venom – even though the project is the conclusion of the story of Eddie Brock and his symbiote friend.

Patrick Mulligan Turned Out to Be Alive

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, Eddie Brock and Venom traveled through the multiverse. They ended up in the main world of the MCU, sat in a Mexican bar for a while, and jumped back to their world – right in front of the bartender.

The guys never met Peter Parker, but they left a piece of the symbiote in his dimension. In The Last Dance, Venom and Eddie ended up in the same bar with the same bartender – only in their reality. The friends left another small symbiote in the bar and went to deal with a new problem.

Eddie had been accused of the death of Detective Patrick Mulligan from Venom 2. He wanted to fly to New York to try to clear his name with the help of a local judge. In fact, Mulligan survived, thanks in large part to the symbiote Toxin. The alien appeared in the detective's body after the battle with Carnage in the second installment.

Scientists and military of the government organization Imperium, who study symbiotes, placed Mulligan in a secret laboratory under Area 51.

Why Does Knull Need the Codex?

Doctor Teddy Payne and soldier commander Rex Strickland learned from Toxin of the existence of the symbiote god Knull. In ancient times, Knull created the symbiotes, but they rebelled against the cruel ruler and imprisoned him.

However, he sensed the appearance of an energy element called the Codex. With its help, Knull can free himself. He sent his minions, the Xenophages, after it. The Codex was inside Venom – it appeared after he saved Eddie's life in the first Venom.

The Codex can be destroyed by killing one of the hosts – Eddie or Venom. So Strickland decided to get rid of them, although Payne wanted to keep them alive and continue research.

Eddie Brock and Venom Separated

The military captured Venom and Eddie and took them to Area 51. The Xenophages arrived there as well. The other symbiotes were freed and joined the humans in the fight against the enemies. However, the Xenophages were revived even after the explosions.

So Venom separated from Eddie, merged with the Xenophages, and stood under the acid "shower" that the Area 51 employees used to destroy the structures. Strickland, who had sided with the symbiotes, helped Venom carry out the plan. Venom, the Xenophages, and Strickland died in the acid rain and subsequent explosion.

Eddie was left without his best friend. Soon after the scuffle with Knull's henchmen, the government dropped all charges against Eddie. Payne merged with a symbiote who survived the Area 51 massacre – judging by the purple color and long hair, it was Agony.

What Will Knull Do After the Events of Venom 3?

In the mid-credits scene of Venom 3, Knull was shown again. He explained that the protector, Venom, has been defeated. Therefore he is free to attack any planet.

In his speech, Knull spoke to someone who will see the world die. He seems to be talking about Eddie or other symbiotes who have betrayed him. If Knull is so confident of his imminent escape, then he will be able to free himself without the Codex. It seems that only Venom can stop him.

In Which Marvel Movies Can We Expect to See Knull?

It is rumored that Knull will be the main villain in the movie Spider-Man 4, which will be released worldwide on July 24, 2026. Allegedly, Venom will help Peter Parker defeat Knull. It is not yet clear if it will be Eddie Brock or another host. If Eddie does not jump into Peter's world, then a new Venom will appear on Earth-616.

After all, a small symbiote was left behind in Parker's dimension in No Way Home. In the second post-credits scene of The Last Dance, it was hinted that the Venom from Eddie's dimension – the new one or the same one – will remain in the Marvel world.

Knull is a powerful villain who is likely able to see into other worlds. The upcoming crossovers, Doomsday and Secret Wars, will feature multiverse carnage. Knull should be expected to appear in them as well. Doomsday will most likely tell more about Doctor Doom, so if Knull is in the Avengers, it will only be in Secret Wars.
