You won't hear anything cuter today.

  • John Krasinski has two daughters with actress Emily Blunt.
  • While the girls have always been aware of their mother's fame, they have only recently discovered their father's past as a sitcom star.
  • Their first reactions to watching The Office were so amusing that it left their parents in stitches.

Let's be honest, for many of us, the multi-talented John Krasinski, who has proven himself as a great actor and brilliant filmmaker, will always be remembered as Jim Halpert, the lovable salesman from The Office who had an unmatched sense of humor and was half of one of TV's most adored couples.

Can you call yourself a fan of The Office?

However, those born after The Office's finale in the 2010s, particularly the Generation Alpha kids, are often clueless about this beloved series and its iconic characters. This includes Krasinski's own daughters, who were surprised to learn that their dad was a major sitcom star.

Back in 2022, during an interview with Stephen Colbert, John Krasinski shared some amusing anecdotes about his daughters' reaction to his sitcom fame and watching The Office for the first time. And they are sure to make you laugh.

Oblivious to Dad's Stardom

Krasinski and his wife, A-list actress Emily Blunt, have two daughters: Hazel, who is ten, and Violet, who is about to turn eight. John explained to Colbert that his daughters have always been aware of their mom's stardom, especially thanks to her role in the 2018 film Mary Poppins Returns. Apparently, starring in children's movies instantly earns you respect in the eyes of your children.

As for their dad, Hazel and Violet believed he was just an ordinary office clerk who got lucky by marrying a Hollywood star. This misconception led to a funny moment when a fan approached Krasinski while he was taking his daughters to school and praised him for his role in The Office. After the man walked away, one of the girls asked John if this was his co-worker, and when he said no, got really frustrated.

'Why are you lying to me?' she exclaimed. 'He just said he knows you from the office!'

First Reaction to The Office

When the kids realized that The Office was not just a workplace and started asking questions about all the fuss surrounding it, John and Emily decided to show them a few episodes, which resulted in some priceless reactions.

Hazel turned out to be quite the 'screen-talker-atter,' as Krasinski described her. When she first saw Michael Scott's quirky sense of humor, she was genuinely outraged and yelled at the screen, 'You're a horrible person,' much to the amusement of her parents.

'You should meet Steve Carell,' John quipped.

Violet, on the other hand, couldn't believe her eyes. She repeatedly insisted that the young, goofy-looking salesman on the screen couldn't be her dad.

'That's not you. Guy looks a lot like you, though,' she kept saying, while John tried not to take her disbelief to heart.

Of course, this story sounds even better when told by Krasinski in his uniquely hilarious way. As if we needed another reason to love The Office star and his adorable family.
