Which one sounds like your jam?

The Rick and Morty media franchise is a lot bigger than you might have thought. The wild interdimensional escapades of a genius scientist and his goofy grandson have inspired a multitude of short films, comics, video and board games, tunes, and, of course, spinoffs.

Vindicators 2, dedicated to the group of superheroes featured in Rick and Morty Season 3, debuted on Adult Swim's YouTube channel in July 2022 and quickly became a hit with millions of views. Another spinoff, Rick and Morty: The Anime, is in the works and is set to land on Adult Swim and Max later this year.

The success of the first spinoff and the anticipation for the second makes one wonder what other shows the creators of Rick and Morty might come up with. In fact, the sci-fi universe is full of fascinating secondary characters just waiting to have their stories told. Here are five examples, mentioned by fans in different discussions.

Krombopulos Michael

Appearance: S2E2 Mortynight Run

Remember the depressed professional hit-alien who bought guns from Rick and was hired to murder the mysterious conscious being Fart? In the episode, Morty accidentally killed Krombopulos Michael. But before his inglorious end, the assassin managed to intrigue viewers with his ‘Oh boy, here I go killin' again.’

The fan interest turned into a solo comic book that revealed Michael was actually bi and had a very tragic love story with his former boyfriend. Now, many fans believe that Michael's personal life and murderous career could be the perfect basis for a spinoff.

Snowball

Appearance: S1E2 Lawnmower Dog

Snuffles aka Snowball was a cute, fluffy pet dog of Morty's whose IQ was accidentally boosted by Rick's tech. Snowball then created other highly intelligent dogs, and they set out to conquer humanity. However, Morty's genuine love for him convinced Snowball to take his army to an empty planet, which has since been dubbed the Dog Dimension (a heavy nod to Justin Roiland's failed Dog World project).

It is life on this planet of intelligent dogs that fans want to see as a separate show.

Time God Jessica

Appearance: S5E1 Mort Dinner Rick Andre

Morty's school crush, Jessica, had a crazy journey in the Season 5 premiere when she ended up in the Narnia dimension in a state of conscious cryostasis for hundreds of years.

‘I had nothing but time. Endless time. At first, it was madness. Then enlightenment. Then madness again,’ Jessica described her terrifying experience that made her a Time God.

The show has ignored Time God Jessica since that episode, but she appeared in the comics as a literal goddess looking for ways to get revenge on Mr. Nimbus. Now, that sounds like a good idea for a spinoff, doesn't it?

Interdimensional Cable

Appearance: Episodes: S1E8 Rixty Minutes & S2E8 Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate

Probably the most ingenious idea for a Rick and Morty spinoff is to make an anthology of different interdimensional cable programs. We know that Rick's cable box can receive any TV channel from any universe or planet. And that means total creative freedom.

As a fun bonus, such a spinoff would completely break the fourth wall. Instead of being a made-up show within a show, it would become a real series, making our reality part of the Rick and Morty multiverse. Sounds insane, right?

Dr. Wong

First appearance: S3E3 Pickle Rick

Dr. Wong is one of the recurring characters. The family therapist proved to be an even-keeled and capable professional, ready for anything and anyone out of the ordinary.

This gave rise to the idea of a show featuring Dr. Wong's sessions with messed-up characters from the Rick and Morty universe. Heaven knows, Mr. Nimbus and Mr. Poopybutthole could use her help, and we would watch them talk through their problems.

In fact, the idea is not new, and Vindicators 2 showrunner Sarah Carbiener has already teased her interest in it. So keep your fingers crossed, Dr. Wong fans.

Would you watch these Rick and Morty spinoffs?
