The Odyssey shatters Christopher Nolan’s 12-year record with historic opening weekend

Moviegoers showed up in force for The Odyssey , with Nolan’s Greek epic pulling an estimated $124.5 million in its first three days in North America. That easily cleared the rest of the field: Disney ’s Moana sequel was a distant second at $19 million, while Minions & Monsters and Toy Story 5 were neck-and-neck at $14.8 million each.

Globally, the haul reached an estimated $264.1 million for the July 17–19 frame, topping Christopher Nolan ’s own best career opening and knocking The Dark Knight Rises off that perch.
