The Hunting Party cranks up the cruelty as Josh Dallas’ serial killer Elliot Carr is strapped in for lethal injection over and over—each execution halted at the last second—in an Us Weekly exclusive from the Thursday, April 2 NBC episode.

The Hunting Party is pulling zero punches this week: Josh Dallas shows up as a serial killer who gets marched to the needle over and over, only to have his execution yanked at the buzzer. Yes, really.

The clip: death by lethal injection... almost

In a new clip shared by Us Weekly from the Thursday, April 2 episode of NBC's The Hunting Party, Elliot Carr (Dallas) is hauled into a secret prison execution chamber multiple times. Each time, the whole lethal injection rigmarole kicks off. Each time, someone calls it off at the last possible second.

"Just kill me already."

That line is Carr to the prison doctor, and it lands hard. The video is shown to Bex (Melissa Roxburgh), Jacob (Patrick Sabongui), and Shane (Josh McKenzie) before they head out to find Carr after his escape. Bex lays it out clean: they would snatch him at random, prep the injection, then cancel it in the final moments. Shane calls it what it is: psychological torture.

So who is Elliot Carr?

The team knows him as the "Connecticut Cobbler," a high-end shoemaker with a truly twisted M.O.: he skins victims alive to craft exotic leather footwear. The mission is simple and awful in equal measure — stop him before he kills again.

The show, in case you missed the setup

The Hunting Party is a crime procedural with a nasty hook. A batch of the country’s worst killers has broken out of a top-secret prison that officially does not exist. A handpicked task force is formed to hunt them down one by one.

Roxburgh plays Bex, an ex-FBI agent recruited for her profiler chops — the kind that previously put some of the world’s most dangerous serial killers behind bars. Each episode spotlights a new fugitive, and the series has been loading up on familiar faces along the way.

  • Bex (Melissa Roxburgh), Jacob (Patrick Sabongui), and Shane (Josh McKenzie) make up the core team chasing Carr.
  • Josh Dallas, 47, guest stars as Elliot Carr, the "Connecticut Cobbler."
  • Roxburgh, 33, and Dallas are reuniting after Manifest.
  • Other notable guest stars across the season include Eric McCormack, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Kelsey Grammer, among others.

Dallas and Roxburgh, back at it

Dallas says he jumped at this one: playing someone this unapologetically evil was a different lane for him, and he clearly enjoyed the switch. He also admits the real treat was teaming up with Roxburgh again.

Roxburgh has been trying to get him on the show for a while. There was even an earlier episode they circled — she is not naming which one — but scheduling never lined up. When this role came through, it clicked. Her logic is delightfully specific: Carr is a shoemaker, Dallas appreciates good clothes, and this part let him really lean into that vibe.

When and where to watch

The Hunting Party airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes hit Peacock the next day. This chapter — the Elliot Carr episode — lands Thursday, April 2.
