The Boys Season 5 Two-Episode Premiere: Exact Date and Time, Plot Preview, Cast Lineup, and How to Watch
Nearly two years after that cliffhanger, Prime Video hit The Boys returns with Season 5 that drops fans straight into a hostile new reality: the media and the public have turned on the team — and the Boys are ready to fight dirty.
Two years after The Boys left us hanging, we are finally barreling into the endgame. Season 5 wastes zero time: the public and the media have turned hard against the Boys, and the team is walking into their ugliest fight yet. Buckle up.
When and where to watch
Prime Video is dropping the first two episodes of The Boys season 5 at the same time on April 8. Expect them to hit around 12:00 a.m. PDT / 3:00 a.m. EDT. After that, episodes roll out weekly on Wednesdays.
Streaming is exclusive to Prime Video. The first four seasons are also sitting there if you need a refresher (or just want to rewatch heads pop).
Yes, this is the final season
The show is ending with season 5. No secret sixth season, no backdoor continuation. This is it.
Free trial math (read this before you burn it)
Prime Video has a 30-day free trial for new users. If you want to binge the whole season for free, timing matters. New episodes are dropping weekly through May 20, 2026 — which is a long runway, I know — so you will want that trial window to land within a month of the finale if you are playing the free game.
Quick catch-up: how season 4 left the board
Butcher torched his body with repeated hits of V24 to play superhero, and now he has less than a year to live. Most of the Boys stopped trusting him, but Hughie kept the line open. Their top target was Victoria Neuman — secretly a supe, protected by Homelander — who had just been elected Vice President. The Boys were terrified of what she would do in office.
As Butcher’s brain started to go, he kept seeing Joe Kessler, an old comrade egging him on. That spiral led Butcher to hatch a plan to wipe out every supe. He also tried to pull Ryan away from Homelander; Ryan chose dad instead. Feeling abandoned, Butcher fused with that Kessler persona and, somehow, wound up with some very gross tentacle powers.
Then Butcher killed Neuman — exactly the move Homelander wanted. In the chaos, the authorities rounded up the Boys and labeled them terrorists. Everyone got nailed except Butcher and Starlight. With the team out of play, Homelander tightened his grip on... well, everything. Oh, and he found out his father, Soldier Boy, is still alive.
Where season 5 picks up
We are heading straight for a Homelander vs. the Boys showdown. He controls the Seven, the narrative, and, functionally, the U.S. government. The Boys still have each other — but at this point, that might not be enough.
The trailer shows Butcher reassembling the gang and apparently springing them from prison. Homelander, meanwhile, has a new obsession: outliving everyone. Immortality is on his to-do list, and he is trying to cozy up to dear old dad, Soldier Boy, to help crush Starlight and the Boys.
"My jaw hit the floor."
That is how Antony Starr described reading the show’s final scripts. Sounds about right.

The bottom line
