Sydney Sweeney Cameo Scrapped from The Devil Wears Prada 2, Reports Say
Sydney Sweeney won’t be strutting through The Devil Wears Prada 2 after all: Entertainment Weekly reports her 2025 cameo, planned near the film’s opening, was cut as a creative decision.
Well, this is a twist: Sydney Sweeney did shoot a cameo for The Devil Wears Prada 2 — and then the movie cut it. Not a scandal thing, not a scheduling meltdown. Just a straight-up creative call.
What changed
Entertainment Weekly says Sweeney, then 28, filmed a quick bit in 2025 that would have shown up near the top of the movie. The team apparently liked working with her, which made the cut sting a little, but they ultimately decided the scene didn’t belong in the final cut. Reps for Disney and Sweeney have been asked for comment.
How her scene fit into the sequel ’s setup
The early plan for Prada 2 sounds very much like a victory lap for the original: journalist Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway ) reconnects with her old Runway boss Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and fashion lifer Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci) to try to rescue the magazine. When they go looking for Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) to help, they find out she’s leveled up and now runs Dior’s U.S. operation.
Where would Sweeney have popped up? In an industry-fluent moment: Emily dressing a celebrity client, with Sweeney playing herself. It’s a neat meta touch… that we won’t actually see.
The breadcrumb trail
If you remember the rumors, they weren’t nothing. TMZ snapped Sweeney arriving on the New York set back in August 2025. She kept it low-low — arriving incognito — and the production stayed quiet about it for months. Now we know why it stayed mysterious.

What Sweeney’s up to anyway
She’s not exactly sitting still. Sweeney’s building her lingerie line Syrn, still linked up with American Eagle, and she just returned for Euphoria season 3, which debuted earlier this month on HBO. At Variety’s Power of Women event in October 2025, she summed up what that show has meant to her twenties:
"It’s been such a journey. It’s been my entire 20s. They’ve been my family and friends for so long. I’ve been forever grateful for all of them."
"I was 20 when I did the pilot, so being able to see a lot of the same people, it feels very comforting."
