Ganesh has a very specific wish list for where Samira lands. She likes the idea of pairing her with Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) and giving Samira an attending who actually believes she belongs in the ER. She also thinks Samira would fight to stay in Pittsburgh, not run back to New Jersey. In an April 2026 chat with TV Insider, Ganesh said Samira has more ties in Pittsburgh now, especially after losing her mom, who was her only real anchor back home. On top of that, Ganesh worries Samira is cooked — emotionally and physically — and wishes the character could hit pause, find community, and actually rest after what was arguably the worst day of her life.

Fans did not take the news quietly. Ganesh told Variety in May 2026 that the response has been, in her word, surreal. The day the news dropped, she saw her name trending and noped out of doomscrolling.
