Zach Bryan pulled the plug on his April 25 concert as lightning closed in — then took to X the next day to apologize, saying the storm hit fast and only the end of the set was scrapped.

Lightning crashed Zach Bryan's Lincoln show this weekend, and yeah, he pulled the plug early. He owned it on X, showed receipts, and then waded into the replies when a fan asked for money back. It was a night.

What actually went down

Saturday, April 25, Bryan, 30, was mid-show on his With Heaven on Tour stop in Lincoln, Nebraska when thunderstorms rolled in. Open-air stage, lightning overhead, not ideal. He cut the set short and posted the setlist the next day so fans could see where things stopped.

"I’m sorry for cutting the set short tonight! Lightening [sic] came in fast! We only missed the last six! I love you guys, the rain was a blast."

He also shared a photo of a bolt cracking right over the stage and captioned it with a very on-brand freakout:

"There were f***n lighting bolts?? Above?? Our?? Heads??"

The reply that lit the fuse

One fan on X said partial refunds should be issued because "we got half a show" and called the whole thing disappointing. Bryan did not let that sit:

"Karen ahhhh tweet."

The fan doubled down, saying she would have liked to see Kings of Leon (billed as the opening act) and that trying to get that many people in within 45 minutes to an hour felt unsafe. Her words: "So a Karen I will be, I guess."

How the night unfolded

  • Before doors on Saturday, Bryan posted: "Due to impending thunderstorms, we are delaying opening doors to the show until the weather has passed. Please stay tuned for updates. The show must go on."
  • About an hour later, he thanked "the Husker faculty and fans" for keeping things moving: "We’ll make it worth it! Owe you guys so big!"
  • He also clarified the line between vibe and safety: "To be clear, we’ve never been scared of rain in our life. We just gotta avoid the lightening [sic] for the safety of everyone."
  • The show did happen, but lightning came back and forced an early stop. Bryan said they were only six songs shy of the planned finish.
  • At least one fan said Kings of Leon, the opening act, never got to perform and that entry was crunched into a 45- to 60-minute window, which she called unsafe.

Context: rain is fine, lightning is not

This wasn’t his first weather headache this month. On April 3 in Tulsa, he canceled outright because of "extreme and dangerous weather," stressing that his team made the call and that he had never canceled a show before. Fans got refunds for that one, and he was back on stage the next night as scheduled.

Lincoln was a different scenario: the concert happened, storms intensified, and they shut it down before the last six songs. No partial-refund announcement from Bryan here, just the explanation, the setlist, and the lightning receipts.

Bottom line: if it’s just rain, he’ll play in it. If it’s lightning over an open stage, everybody goes home in one piece. And if you call for refunds on X, you might get a spicy reply.
