In-ho had his reasons.

On December 26, Netflix released all seven episodes of Season 2 of Squid Game. In the new chapter, Gi-hun tried to trick the organizers of the survival games into shutting down the project, but his plan failed. The Front Man had the opportunity to kill 456, but he didn't.

What Happened In Season 2 Episode 7?

In the middle of the second season, Gi-hun began to form the "X" alliance, which included those who wanted to leave the game. The "O" team consisted of those who wanted to continue. Gi-hun tried to explain to the "O" team that anyone could die at any time.

Among Gi-hun's allies was his best friend Jung-bae, the same one the man tried to borrow money from in Season 1. The mysterious 001 also joined the team, this is In-ho, the Front Man.

In-ho gained Gi-hun's trust in order to manipulate him and to be aware of his plans. In Episode 7, Gi-hun organized a rebellion. During a night battle between "O" and "X", Gi-hun and the members of his team pretended to be dead. Seizing the moment, they attacked the guards, took their machine guns and went to the organizers of the games.

Then In-ho betrayed the team – and at the same time did everything to make Gi-hun think he was dead. In-ho put on the Front Man's costume and killed Jung-bae in front of Gi-hun.

The Front Man's assistants shot all the "X" members who were in the corridors at the time of the showdown. Only Gi-hun was left alive – the Front Man sarcastically called him a "hero."

The Front Man's Backstory Reveals Why He Didn't Kill Gi-hun

In-ho himself had been in Gi-hun's place in the past. Disappointed by society and imbued with the spirit of the game, he decided to stay. Obviously, he earned Il-nam's trust, because he appointed him as the Front Man.

In-ho wants to break Gi-hun's spirit and make him disillusioned with people – and then maybe he can get number 456 to switch to his side. It is also important for In-ho to show Gi-hun that he is unable to change the system – according to him, society can only be "healed" by brute force and "dirty" games.

In-ho became especially firm in his intentions after Gi-hun voiced his plan. 426 himself was willing to sacrifice some "crosses" to distract the "zeros" and the guards.

Gi-hun unwittingly proved that he is a bit like the uncompromising In-ho – but 426 still has a chance to keep his humanity. And yes, Gi-hun has not yet had time to use the fork he was given the day before.
