Hulk’s journey in the MCU has left many fans wanting more. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day on the horizon, Marvel hints at a return to the character’s raw, untamed power. Discover what’s in store for Bruce Banner and why this could be his most intense appearance yet.

Among the original Avengers, few characters have sparked as much debate as Hulk. Many longtime fans feel his potential has been left untapped, especially after his rage—once a defining trait—was toned down in recent films. While his appearances in the multiverse saga have been limited, the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to change that, bringing Bruce Banner back into the spotlight.

Hulk and Spider-Man Face Their Demons

Marvel ’s future plans for these heroes are stirring up excitement. According to industry insider Alex Perez, the story will force both Bruce and Peter to confront the guilt and trauma that have haunted them.

The events of Brand New Day are going to force both of these characters to come face-to-face with their own personal trauma and guilt over the events of their past as they come bubbling to the surface. And you have to think about what effect that can have on these two characters, particularly.

With Mark Ruffalo confirmed to reprise his role, fans are hoping for a return to the classic, unpredictable Hulk—perhaps even surpassing his most memorable moments from earlier MCU films.

Unleashing Hulk’s Fury Like Never Before

In the comics, Hulk’s anger is legendary, but recent movies have shown him holding back. Brand New Day looks to break that pattern. Perez suggests that the emotional turmoil Bruce faces will push him further than ever before in live-action.

For Hulk, it ’s similar, except it unleashes a big green monster on the rampage, angrier than he’s ever been before. In previous iterations, Hulk, dare I say, shows restraint in the MCU? Even during the events of Age of Ultron when he was under the control of the Scarlet Witch, people were seriously injured and scared, but if I recall, he never killed anyone. In Brand New Day, he might get pushed to the point where he might just kill somebody.

This time, the consequences could be far more severe, with the possibility of real casualties on the line.

The Standalone Hulk Dilemma

One reason Hulk hasn’t reached the same heights as his fellow Avengers is the absence of a solo film. The only standalone movie, released in 2008, failed to make a lasting impact. Ongoing rights issues between Universal and Marvel have kept another solo outing off the table. When Mark Ruffalo was asked about the chances of a new Hulk film, he explained,

Yeah, I’d love to have a solo Hulk movie. I don’t know if you know the story of that, but it’s not really owned by Marvel. It’s a Universal property. I don’t know if it’ll ever really come to be, honestly.

For now, all eyes are on Brand New Day and the next Avengers films to see if Hulk finally gets the spotlight he deserves.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
