It remains one of the best post-apocalyptic shows of our time.

The second season of Silo begins with an uprising. A group of rebels defeats the local authorities and voluntarily leaves the bunker. Holding a large flag, the rebel leader boldly steps forward, leaving behind years of doubt and suspicion.

One might assume that this scene is a flashback to the old uprising we learned about in the first season, but no – a little later, Juliette appears on screen after leaving the bunker at the end of the first season.

The woman finds a tattered cloth on the scorched earth, still resembling a flag, next to it – thousands of soulless bodies, and a little further – an open door to the very same bunker she left a few minutes ago.

What Happens in Season 2?

After descending into the depths of the new bunker, Juliette realizes that it was once identical to her own shelter. She wanders aimlessly along the stairs until she notices a faint glow coming from the lower levels – one of the compartments is still powered.

A series of actions leads her to a door with a lock – someone named Solo is hiding inside. He is tight-lipped, so Juliette manages to learn a little. Perhaps the most important piece of information is that the bunker she is now in is considered the seventeenth, meaning that there are at least fifteen more like it somewhere nearby.

To find out more, Juliette will have to design a new special spacesuit, but she cannot handle such a task alone.

The creators have not forgotten the habitants of the old bunker. The departure of Juliette behind the hill has provoked a series of riots, which will soon turn into a real uprising. Juliette's friends, who have lived all their lives underground, still assume the best – the air on the surface has cleared and it is time to go outside.

Without knowing it, Juliette becomes a symbol of liberation – the rebels come up with the emblem JL (Juliette Lives) and paint the walls with a can of spray paint.

Silo Season 2 Focuses More On the Reason of the Catastrophe

In the second season more relics appear, revealing the secrets of the past world to some of the characters.

Watching scenes with them is especially sad – the characters are surprised to learn about the existence of elephants and parrots, crying over the lost world, not understanding how past generations could allow the disappearance of plants and birds. What should be the goal if it is necessary to destroy the planet for its sake?

Season 2 Maintains and Sometimes Exceeds the Level of the First Season

The success of the second season of Silo largely depended on whether the creators could keep the audience interested by answering the main question (what is out there?) at the end of the first season.

So far, all indications are that the writers have succeeded (the season has a 96% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes), and Silo continues to be one of the most exciting and highest quality shows on Apple TV+.
