Set Showdown: Tom Hardy Allegedly Refused to Leave His MobLand Trailer for Hours
Tom Hardy is under fire for alleged on-set behavior during MobLand season 2, with The Hollywood Reporter saying the 48-year-old refused to come out of his trailer for hours, a saga that involved costars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Tom Hardy is back in the headlines, and not for a new stunt or accent. The chatter this week is all about what he allegedly did (or did not do) on the MobLand season 2 set — and what that might mean for a season 3 that still is not even official.
What reportedly went down on set
The Hollywood Reporter ran a story on Wednesday, May 27, claiming Hardy, 48, refused to come out of his trailer for hours during season 2 filming. That delay allegedly forced costars — including Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan — to sit around waiting before cameras could roll. Us Weekly says they reached out to Hardy's spokesperson for comment.
- Refused to leave his trailer for hours, per THR, keeping Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and others waiting
- Frequently late to set, according to Puck
- Pushed to give notes on the script and tried to change dialogue, also per Puck
- Multiple outlets say he was effectively out for a potential season 3; Puck reported earlier this month he was asked not to return if the show gets renewed
To be clear, neither Hardy nor Paramount has addressed these claims. Us Weekly previously said they contacted reps for Hardy, Paramount+, and producer 101 Studios and did not immediately hear back. Until someone goes on the record, treat all of this as unconfirmed but loudly circulating.
The season 3 talk, explained
Here is the slightly messy part: MobLand has not been renewed for season 3. Season 2 is in the can and expected later this year. The reports floating around are about Hardy being told not to come back if there is a third season — which, again, does not officially exist yet. So the news is less 'fired mid-production' and more 'if there is a next season, he will not be in it, ' according to the outlets.
Quick refresher: what MobLand is and who is in it
Hardy stars as Harry Da Souza, the resident fixer for the London-based Harrigan crime family. The onscreen clan includes Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Paddy Considine, and Anson Boon. Guy Ritchie directs and executive produces the series, and Hardy is also an executive producer.
Hardy on why he took the role
Back in March 2025, he told Business Insider he likes playing tightly wound characters and referenced his film with Steven Knight:
'I’ve always wanted to play somebody who’s contained after I did a film called Locke with Steven Knight. I enjoyed the level of containment that was required to play high stakes emotionally with people who are quite irregular in many aspects. I mean, gangstering is pretty dramatic, isn’t it? Immoral? Very much so.'
How the show is actually doing
Season 1 premiered in March 2025 and quickly became a hit, ranking second in viewership on Paramount+. Three months later, the streamer renewed it for season 2. Writer and EP Jez Butterworth said TV was new territory for him and that working with Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios flipped his thinking; he praised the group — including Ritchie and the cast — and said he was excited to dig into season 2.
Where things stand now
Season 2 wrapped filming earlier this year. Paramount+ has not set a premiere date yet, but it is expected to land before the year is out. As for season 3, nothing is official — except the rumor mill, which is very much open for business.
