Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn zeroed in on Erika Kirk’s appearance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner — and when a shooting abruptly canceled the gala, she posted X footage of Kirk leaving in tears, saying, I just wanna go home.

Well, this escalated fast. The White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday night went from black-tie schmoozing to full-on evacuation after gunfire outside the ballroom. And because we cant have one D.C. meltdown without a side of reality TV spice, Christine Quinn had thoughts about Erika Kirk being escorted out in tears.

What actually happened at the dinner

  • Gunfire erupted outside the ballroom during the Saturday, April 25 event, and the Secret Service moved quickly to clear the room.
  • President Donald Trump, 79, Vice President JD Vance, First Lady Melania Trump, and other members of the administration were escorted out.
  • Trump later posted that the shooter had been caught and praised law enforcement for acting fast and bravely. He even floated keeping the program going, but said hed defer to authorities.
  • WHCA president Weijia Jiang said law enforcement requested everyone leave the premises. She emphasized that no one was injured and that the First Lady, the cabinet, and attendees were safe.
  • The dinner, which was cut short mid-event, will be rescheduled later this month.

"Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely... The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we LET THE SHOW GO ON but will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement... Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and well just, plain, have to do it again."

Christine Quinn vs. Erika Kirk: the viral moment

As guests were getting ushered out, Erika Kirk, 37, a Fox News guest at the dinner, was filmed leaving in tears. Reporters on CNN said she exited crying amid the chaos. Christine Quinn, 37, grabbed that clip and posted it on X with a very Christine caption. She paraphrased Erika as saying she just wanted to go home, then added her own jab basically saying, in so many words, that home isnt exactly where Erika tends to be. Subtle? Not her brand.

Kirk hasnt said anything publicly about her tearful exit or her presence at the dinner.

Quick background on Erika Kirk, because context matters here

Erikas husband, conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, was shot and killed during a speaking engagement in September 2025. He was 31. He leaves behind Erika and their two kids.

Charlie founded Turning Point USA, and Erika has since been elected CEO of the organization. Shes been very visible while taking over, which has sparked criticism from some corners that shes moved on too quickly. She pushed back on that idea last fall, writing on Instagram that grief is messy and nonlinear — some days you collapse on the floor, other days you manage to find bits of joy with your kids and family.

Security has also been a real concern. Earlier this month she canceled a Turning Point appearance at the University of Georgia after, according to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, specific threats targeted her travel to and from the event. Per that source, her security team did not believe they could keep her safe, and as a mother who just lost her husband to gun violence, she followed their advice.

Where things stand now

The Correspondents Dinner will be back later this month, this time without the mid-banquet adrenaline spike, hopefully. Everyone is safe, the shooter was apprehended, and the WHCA is moving to reset. As for the side drama, Erika is staying quiet, Christine is not, and the internet is doing what it always does after a chaotic D.C. night: rewinding the clips and picking sides.
