Netflix has churned out its share of early-season darlings — but Emily in Paris is the rare outlier panned from the start, with every season pulling lukewarm reviews and even rotten Rotten Tomatoes audience scores. And yet the glossy romp keeps strutting on.

Netflix has plenty of splashy hits that win raves out of the gate. Emily in Paris has never been that show. Critics shrugged from day one, the audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes are rotten every single season, and yet every time new episodes land, it rockets up Netflix’s charts. Like it or not, people cannot quit Lily Collins wandering through love triangles and European postcards. And now, the end is officially on the calendar.

The farewell tour is on

Collins told fans in a video on Netflix’s Instagram that she has been playing Emily Cooper for six years and that the next batch of episodes will close the book on the series.

"After six unforgettable years of playing Emily Cooper, this upcoming sixth season will be our final."

She added that the team is already filming and pouring everything into making it a proper goodbye, promising a sendoff that doubles down on what the show does best and, yes, keeps things very chic. Series creator Darren Star backed that up in a note to Netflix’s Tudum, thanking Netflix, Paramount, and the fans for taking the ride with them and signing off with a very on-brand "We will always have Emily in Paris!"

Where Season 5 left Emily (and why Season 6 starts in Greece)

The last season wrapped with Emily turning down a charming small-town life in Solitano with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). They split, she went back to Paris solo, and her longtime on-again, off-again flame Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) had already bounced from the city to cook as a private chef on billionaire Thomas Heatherton’s (Jonathan Cake) yacht. Once Gabriel heard Emily was single, he mailed her a postcard from Greece with a come-join-me invite. That dangling thread is exactly where the new season picks up, and set photos have already spoiled the obvious: Emily says yes and spends at least part of the final run in Greece.

What we know right now

  • Returning cast: Lucas Bravo, Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and William Abadie are all back alongside Collins.
  • The notable newer face: Minnie Driver’s Princess Jane, who invested in Agence Grateau at the end of Season 5, is positioned for a bigger role.
  • Production status: Cameras are rolling now; the plan is to wrap in the second half of 2026.
  • Release timing: Netflix says Season 6 arrives in 2026, most likely December.
  • How you’ll watch it: Expect 10 episodes, but Netflix hasn’t said if they’ll drop all at once or split the season like Season 4.

So yes, it’s a wait. But if Emily’s glam chaos keeps defying gravity the way it always has, the show is clearly aiming to go out exactly how it lived: loud outfits, bigger feelings, and one last round of wish-you-were-here scenery.
