RHORI Star Alicia Carmody Breaks Silence on the Alleged 'Ran Over a Woman' Incident
Real Housewives of Rhode Island star Alicia Carmody revealed the harrowing reason she avoids highways on Sunday’s April 5 episode — “I’ve gotten in accidents. I ran over a woman. I’ve almost driven off a bridge.”
Real Housewives of Rhode Island wasted no time getting intense. On the Sunday, April 5 episode, newcomer Alicia Carmody explained why she avoids the highway, and the reason is not your garden-variety driver anxiety.
The on-camera confession
In her confessional, Alicia ran through her personal driving history like a cautionary tale: accidents, a near-bridge disaster, and one incident that stopped me in my tracks.
"I ran over a woman."
When a RHORI producer asked her to clarify, she repeated it, straight-up. No hedging, no euphemisms. It is exactly as blunt as it sounds.
What actually happened, in her words
Before the season kicked off, Alicia told Us Weekly what led to that moment and how it rewired her brain behind the wheel. She said she was barely moving — about 15 miles per hour right after a red light — when a woman suddenly dove in front of her car. For about 10 seconds, Alicia thought she had killed someone. She called it life-changing and "the worst feeling in the world."
She also said the whole thing likely left her with PTSD. Her plan now is to take more classes before she even thinks about getting back on the highway. As she put it, accidents happen — this one just left a mark.
The episode doubled down on the nerves
We also see Alicia driving and grumbling about traffic on "this little bridge," then snapping at another driver to "fix your car." The fear is not theoretical; it is very present-tense.
How the cast sees Alicia
- Kelsey Swanson says Alicia is peak Rhode Island: the voice, the mannerisms, and yes, the refusal to take the highway. If you are born and bred there, Kelsey says, you are a different breed — and Alicia fits the mold.
- Ashley Iaconetti calls Alicia "unintentionally hilarious," but more importantly, the kind of person who always gives people the benefit of the doubt. Her read: Alicia is just plain sweet.
- Rosie DiMare backs her up on reliability: she insists Alicia is not flaky, even though Alicia briefly labeled herself a "flip-flopper." For the record, Alicia says she misunderstood the term — she thought it meant liking multiple people at once, then realized that is not what a true flip-flop is. She basically talks herself into and out of the label in the same breath.
