Peter Claffey wants Inde Navarrette in X-Men, backs her dream role
Peter Claffey is backing Inde Navarrette to land her dream Marvel role — but which character has she set her sights on?
On the Variety’s Up Next podcast, Inde Navarrette didn’t hedge when asked about her ideal Marvel role — she said Mystique. The conversation quickly spilled onto social media, where A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey amplified the fan-casting, reposting an Instagram slide that imagined Navarrette in blue.
Dear Lord let this happen.
There’s no deal in place. Navarrette said she’s been taking meetings with a number of filmmakers — including Jake Schreier, who is set to direct Marvel Studios ’ upcoming X-Men film — but not every sit-down leads to a project. She added that she grew up on Fox’s original X-Men movies and is eager to join the MCU if the right role lands.
Navarrette praised Schreier’s character-first approach after seeing his Marvel outing Thunderbolts .
It was character-driven, and the whole time I just couldn’t stop yapping about how much I appreciated what he did with Marvel.
Leveling up to games
The actress — a frequent gamer who has streamed on Twitch and YouTube — also revealed she’s been approached by several video game companies about roles.
Yes, and I’m starting my journey with that soon. I want to try something smaller to test the waters and then later, different. Video games are, obviously, a big interest of mine.
She singled out her love for Resident Evil, joking she wouldn’t last long if she were dropped into that zombie-infested world. The momentum comes on the heels of her breakout turn as Nikki in the horror hit Obsession and a music video debut in Sombr’s “My Body Isn’t Ready.” Her plan on the gaming front: start with something small, then ramp up from there.
