Netflix has announced the start of filming for the sequel to Peaky Blinders titled The Immortal Man. We tell you everything we know about the continuation of the series of the same name and when to expect the premiere.
What Was Peaky Blinders About?
The action of Peaky Blinders takes place in the criminal world of Birmingham in the 20s of the last century. The plot of the project focuses on the Shelby family, which became one of the most brutal and influential gangster gangs.
The group, involved in robbery and gambling, has a trademark: blades sewn into visors. The actual head of the Peaky Blinders is Thomas Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy. He runs the gang's affairs and tries to legalize the family business.
The series included six seasons, the final of which was released in 2022.
What Happened in the Peaky Blinders Finale?
Thomas Shelby learns that he is terminally ill and, realizing that he has little time left, tries to put his affairs in order. In the finale of Peaky Blinders, the main character is about to commit suicide. As he is about to pull the trigger, Thomas sees the ghost of his deceased daughter.
The Shelby clan has a gypsy background, and especially in the sixth season, this explains the mystical moments of the show's plot. Shelby's daughter reveals that he is not actually ill and convinces the main character to light the fire – this way he will understand why he should continue to live.
Thomas takes his daughter's advice. While collecting newspapers for the fire, he notices information in one of them that helps him learn about the conspiracy. Shelby realizes that the enemy's tactic was to drive him to suicide. They knew that the only one who could defeat the man was himself.
Shelby could have taken revenge on the doctor who gave him a false diagnosis, but he chose not to. At the end of Peaky Blinders, Thomas gets on his horse and rides away.
What Will The Immortal Man Be About?
The finale of Season 6 of Peaky Blinders has created plenty of opportunities for a feature-length sequel. The start of work on the movie has been announced for 2022, the same year that Season 6 ended.
Plot details for the movie are still being kept under wraps, but it is known that the action of the movie will take place during the Second World War.
The Immortal Man Creators
Tom Harper will direct the movie. He worked on the series of the same name and his other projects include the film adaptation of War & Peace and the fantasy drama Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams.
As with the series, The Immortal Man will be written by Steven Knight, and Cillian Murphy will also serve as a producer.
The Immortal Man Release Date & Streaming Platform
The Immortal Man is scheduled to be released in late 2025 or 2026. A full-length sequel to the series of the same name will be released on Netflix.
