Noah Schnapp opens up about how a Stranger Things season 5 poster almost revealed a major twist about Will Byers’ new abilities. He shares how the design hinted at Will’s strength while keeping the big secret under wraps.

Fans of Stranger Things were in for a shock when the first part of the final season dropped this week, confirming that Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, has developed powers similar to those of Vecna and Eleven. But according to Schnapp, the secret almost slipped out much earlier—thanks to a season 5 poster that came dangerously close to giving everything away.

Designing Hints Without Spoilers

In a recent interview, Schnapp discussed how the show’s marketing team walked a fine line between teasing and spoiling.

“It’s always supposed to kind of feel the vibe of the season and give an essence of where everyone’s characters stand in that era and chapter of our story,”

he explained. The poster, he said, was carefully crafted to show Will’s newfound strength without making it too obvious.

“So yeah, you can see a strength in him on there. And obviously, they didn’t want to spoil it with any blood or anything, but as close as you can get. Everything is very intentional that we do.”

The image placed Will at the top of a tower beneath Vecna, subtly hinting at the connection between their abilities.

Will’s Journey and Inner Strength

Schnapp also reflected on his character’s evolution and the significance of this season’s big reveal.

“I think people mistake fear for weakness. Will has had a lot of fear through the years because of what he’s had to endure, but that doesn’t mean he’s weak,”

he said.

“He’s pushed through that and come out stronger, and he does it scared every time. He always comes back, and he never crumbles. So that is his strength, and I think he shows that in the end, that he is stronger than we all think.”

This season marks a turning point for Will, as he steps into a new role and faces challenges head-on.

Setting the Stage for the Final Showdown

With the return of Kali, played by Linnea Berthelsen, the stage is set for an epic confrontation in the remaining episodes. The Duffer Brothers seem to be building toward a massive showdown, as Hawkins’ heroes prepare to take on Vecna once and for all. The final three episodes will arrive on Christmas Day, with the series finale following on New Year’s Eve. Until then, fans are left to speculate about what’s next for Will and the rest of the gang.
