Ten months into dad life, Teddy Swims says fatherhood is steering his music in a new direction — a reveal he shared during a Stagecoach pop-up at T-Mobile’s exclusive Club Magenta.

Ten months into dad life, Teddy Swims is already reworking his sound. He dropped a few real-life updates and music hints during a pop-up hang at T-Mobile's Club Magenta during Stagecoach, and the headline is simple: fatherhood and a little heartbreak are pushing him toward a rock chapter.

So what is Teddy making next?

During a private Q&A inside the air-conditioned Club Magenta lounge, the 33-year-old 'Lose Control' singer said the next version of Teddy Swims is colored by, well, everything that has changed lately. He mentioned he is dealing with a situation with his son's mother, called it a bit of heartbreak, and then pivoted to where that leaves the music: louder, rougher around the edges, and still aiming to make you feel something. He keeps stressing he is happy and in a good place; he just does not want every track to turn into a diary entry about diapers.

'It is gonna be rock and roll, man... I want [my son] to think I am cool.'

Also, timeline check: his son literally turned 10 months old the day before that chat. So yes, the dad brain is fresh.

Where this all started (and where it is going)

Swims became a father in June 2025, welcoming a son with his longtime partner, Raiche Wright. They went public as a couple in 2024 and announced the birth together on Instagram the following year. Since then, he has been posting bits of the ride and, by his account, enjoying it.

Career-wise, he is equally busy proving it on the board. His 2025 release, 'I have Tried Everything But Therapy Part 2,' landed a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. He first broke big on YouTube with cover videos (his take on Shania Twain's 'You are Still The One' pulled in millions) and signed with Warner Music in 2020. After his major-label debut and first headlining run, he picked up a 2023 Grammy nod for Best New Artist. He has talked for years about the need to measure up — apparently that switch still stays on.

Quick hit timeline

  • 2020: Signs with Warner Music after YouTube cover blow-ups (including 'You are Still The One').
  • 2023: First Grammy nomination, Best New Artist.
  • 2025: Drops 'I have Tried Everything But Therapy Part 2'; earns a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
  • June 2025: Welcomes a son with partner Raiche Wright.
  • April 2026 ( Stagecoach): Says the next phase leans rock, shaped by new-dad life and some heartbreak.

Dad goals, literally on site

Swims' father, Rodney Hampton, showed up to cheer him on at Stagecoach, which clearly hit a nerve. Teddy said he wants to be that kind of presence for his own son one day — whether the kid grabs a mic or does something completely different. He admitted he misses the little guy and was counting down to seeing him the next day. Sentimental? Absolutely. Undercut by a drive to be the best so his son thinks he is cool? Also yes.

Inside the Club Magenta pit stop

The T-Mobile hospitality space was basically a comfy bunker from the desert sun — premium viewing, a place to recharge (yourself and your phone), artist moments, and, in this case, a full-on Teddy Swims Takeover. Fans got custom mocktails, an airbrush tattoo setup, and a face-to-face with the man himself. T-Mobile customers also had a perk-y path into the festival: a batch of Stagecoach GA tickets through T-Mobile Tickets that came with a $50 on-site credit. That same program extends to other big stops on the circuit, including Lollapalooza, BottleRock, and Austin City Limits.

The read

Swims is steering into rock without ditching the heart-on-sleeve thing that got him here. Fatherhood is clearly front and center, but he is trying not to flood the zone with lullabies. If 'Lose Control' was your entry point, expect the guitars to get a little louder — and the motivation to get a lot smaller, chubbier, and currently 10 months old.
