New cryptic ’Digger’s Courtroom footage hints at a frustrated Tom Cruise: “Life Is Hard”
Tom Cruise unveils new 'Digger' footage that teases a courtroom scene — but stops short of showing what’s actually going down.
A grainy, 17-second phone clip Tom Cruise shared from the set of Digger puts him center stage in a cavernous, gilded courtroom, hair gone gray, dressed in a maroon jacket and a turquoise bolo tie. No stunts, no sprinting — just Cruise locked into a monologue as balconies packed with onlookers rise around him.
“Life is hard, its hard, I know it, you know it, hell, most of the time it just sucks, but do you know what would happen? What would happen if I stopped doing it?”
The shaky look of the video only adds to its bootleg vibe, but the takeaway is clear: this performance leans on voice, timing, and presence rather than the physical bravado audiences expect from him. The courtroom setting suggests a character trying to seize the room with conviction alone.
A different Cruise
Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the black comedy follows powerful oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, who tries to recast himself as humanity’s savior after unleashing a global disaster. It’s a stranger register for Cruise, and this first peek hints he’s ready to let the character carry the spectacle.
Digger opens October 2, 2026 .
What else he’s juggling
At the same time, Cruise is suiting back up as Cole Trickle in Days of Thunder 2, which he announced with Anne Hathaway in late August 2026. Hathaway plays a NASCAR team owner and engineer, with Jonathan Levine directing the Paramount Pictures sequel.
