Natasha Lyonne Finally Speaks After Reported Flight Removal — What Really Happened?
Natasha Lyonne breaks her silence after she was reportedly escorted off a plane, taking to X to support unpaid TSA agents and lament a scrapped Drew Barrymore interview.
Natasha Lyonne finally weighed in on that reported plane situation, the missed Drew Barrymore taping, and where she is with recovery. Short version: she posted, she joked, and the timeline is a little wild.
What Natasha said
The 47-year-old actress broke her silence on Thursday, April 9, posting on X about the mess and the appearance she did not make on The Drew Barrymore Show the day before.
"My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports. Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess wasn’t in the cards."
She also tossed off a jab about who owns Page Six and the New York Post now, which is not subtle about how she feels about the coverage.
The reported in-flight drama, step by step
According to Page Six, here is how things went down on Tuesday, April 7, on a red-eye Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York:
- Lyonne was seated in first class on the overnight. Sunglasses on. Very celebrity-red-eye energy.
- Flight attendants allegedly asked multiple times for her to shut her laptop and buckle up for takeoff. She did not respond.
- She seemed to be asleep and, when startled, blurted "Ah! You scared me!"
- As the plane taxied, a crew member reportedly took her laptop away. The aircraft then returned to the gate.
- A Delta staffer boarded and asked if she needed medical help and told her she needed to come off the plane, offering help with her things.
- An eyewitness described her to the outlet as "out of it. " Lyonne allegedly asked, "Where are we?" and was told they were still in Los Angeles and not leaving until she deplaned.
- Per the report, she "shushed" the gate agent, went to the bathroom, then came out to find her luggage being removed as she deboarded.
- The captain addressed the cabin, saying a passenger would not follow basic instructions and had been rebooked on another flight, apologizing for the delay.
- The flight left more than an hour late and continued without further issues.
A rep was contacted for comment. Lyonne, for what it is worth, had been slated to chat with Drew Barrymore on Wednesday, April 8. Instead, she was posting about it the next day. Also, that 'unpaid TSA agents' line in her post reads like a sideways joke; unclear what specifically she meant there.
The timing is eyebrow-raising
All of this reportedly happened just hours after Lyonne hit the Euphoria season 3 premiere in Los Angeles. She is set to appear on the HBO drama when it returns later this month.
Where she says she is with recovery
Earlier this year, Lyonne shared on X that she had relapsed after nearly a decade sober. She called recovery a lifelong thing, told anyone struggling they are not alone, said she was grateful for love and 'smart feet,' and mentioned doing it for baby Bambo. She urged honesty over secrets and offered a lot of straight-to-camera encouragement: keep going, do not quit before the miracle, fill your head with love; the rest is noise.
On March 19, she posted an update saying she was doing much better and back on her feet, thanked recovery communities and fans for the support, and added that while most of her journey will stay private, she will share what helps when it makes sense. She ended with a note of solidarity for anyone going through it.
