Meryl Streep lobbed a sly jab at Chiefs star Travis Kelce on the Devil Wears Prada 2 media tour while talking about the toughest part of filming, leaving film and football fans buzzing.

Of all the random crossovers I expected on The Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour, a Travis Kelce mention was not on my bingo card. Yet here we are: Meryl Streep tossed a playful little dart at the Kansas City Chiefs tight end while talking about the toughest part of shooting the sequel.

What Meryl said, and why fans did a double take

In a video 20th Century Studios posted to X on Saturday, April 25, Streep, 76, was asked about the hardest part of filming the follow-up to the 2006 fashion juggernaut. She pointed straight to a very Miranda Priestly problem: Milan sidewalks.

"The hardest thing about shooting in Milan was walking in stilettos on the cobblestones. I'd like to see Travis Kelce do that."

There's no known history between Streep and Kelce, 36, and, as far as anyone can tell, zero Kelce-in-heels lore to draw from. Which is why the replies were a mix of amusement and confusion. One fan joked about booking Anne Hathaway and Streep on Kelce's New Heights podcast to explain the drive-by. Another floated a theory: this could trace back to Taylor Swift's six-part Disney+ docuseries, 'Taylor Swift: The End of an Era,' where she remarks on how hard Kelce's job is — and that he doesn't have to do it in heels. If that's the breadcrumb, Streep might have just picked it up and ran with it.

The Kelce of it all, football edition

Whether or not he ever tackles cobblestones in stilettos, Kelce will be back in actual cleats soon. Chiefs minicamp opens in early June. After mulling retirement for the second straight offseason — and coming off a disappointing 2025 campaign — he chose to run it back in Kansas City, future Hall of Famer vibes still intact.

He's been open about why:

"If it was just Sundays, I could play till I was 50."

In that same Christmas Day 2025 pregame interview, he talked about still loving the grind, the energy at Arrowhead, and banking those memories for when he's old and gray. Translation: the fire's still there, even if the calendar isn't getting any kinder.
